I read Joni's book in the 80s when I was a young girl and I never forgot it. Reading it (or hearing it) now in my 40's was the same in the sense that it was gripping and emotional and touched my heart and spirit but it was also wonderful to be able to get so much more out of it now that I am older. I expect to listen to/read this book again in years to come and again get something more and deeper out of it as I grow in life experience and my relationship with God. Joni's ability to tell her story without overdramatizing and with honest telling of her own doubts, fears, and faults is the most impactful way of expressing God's love. I'm sure this is why this story has resonated with so many different people, because it is so forthright and honest and touches the core that is the same in us all in spite of our differences.
Wonderful, moving and inspiring story, read with real sensitivity and skill by the author. I found myself looking for extra minutes to listen to more to see what happened.
