Publisher's summary

Judah Smith digs deep to answer the most common and the most difficult questions about Jesus, a man so few understand and so many desperately need.

In Jesus Is, Judah Smith explores a number of topics that reveal Jesus' purpose for coming, what he accomplished while he was here, and what that means for those of us who came after. Jesus is greatly revered, harshly criticized, and sorely misunderstood.

Judah breaks down who Jesus is and explains to listeners how understanding that more fully will not only enrich their lives, but also give meaning to them and save them.

Jesus Is gives listeners the intimate knowledge that makes for a deeper, lasting relationship with Jesus, allowing them to commune with and grow in him. Judah wants listeners to know that Jesus is more than a good teacher, more than an inspiring leader. He is the point of all life.

Judah is amazing

Judah never fails to make me fall more in more in love with Jesus based on how he describes His love for us. Between the hilarious commentary Judah gives, to his love of Jesus, this a book I continue to pick up for a good read.

Heart touching

Judah has a way of making you understand that Jesus's love for us is inescapable, sufficient and deeply personal. Who wouldn't want to be part of that relationship? I listened to this book on Audible and Judah was the narrator as well as the author. You can hear his love for Jesus, his relationship with Jesus, his earnest desire for the reader to experience the same, unmistakably in his voice! Judah is down to earth and funny; he also comes from love rather than judgment. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

Basically, A Fun Sermon!

If you could sum up Jesus Is in three words, what would they be?

funny, thoughtful, inclusive

Would you recommend Jesus Is to your friends? Why or why not?

Totally, I would particularly recommend it to my friends who are more conservative theologically. Judah has a lot to say about the goodness of God.

Eyes opened

Wow... I adore the message of this book. I have been building my relationship with Jesus for the past year and this book opened my eyes to an entirely different way to do that! I'm excited about Jesus and life here on earth and my life afterwards! Thank you Judah Smith for sharing your heart and love with me! Praise God for sending teachers like Judah to help us understand the Bible and ourselves.

A different perspective.

It’s truth. No condemnation. Excellent insight. I was confirmed by the love of Jesus and not judgement. We all judge ourselves harder than Jesus does. A very great read.

Don't Listen To The Haters!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this book to a friend, and in fact, already have. Not only is the content great, Judah Smith reads it superbly! First of all, he is a speaker (pastor) by trade so he's used to speaking on a regular basis. Second, he knows where the inflection was intended as he is the author of the book.

This is one book that I think may very likely be even better on audio than reading it yourself.

What other book might you compare Jesus Is to and why?

Another similar type book might be Crazy Love by Francis Chan. Both deal with God's overwhelming love for us, and grace is a big component of both books as well.

One of my favorite quotes is in the forward, "Christianity is not about not swearing. It's not about not having unpure thoughts. Really, it's not about not at all. Christianity is about Jesus."

Any additional comments?

Prior to purchasing this book I read several of the reviews. I like to read both the 4 & 5 star reviews and the 1 star reviews. There were a few 1 star reviews where the reader really did not like the book specifically because they felt Judah to be too relaxed about Jesus. In their words, almost irreverent.

I bought the book anyway as it came highly recommended by a friend of mine that I know to have very similar taste in books, sermons, etc. In the first sitting I not only listened to the introduction and first 4 chapters; I started it over for my kids to listen to as well. After my first listen, I went in and told my husband "if this book does not rock peoples' world they are living under a rock!"

Jesus Is is so very much about relationship. If you are looking for for a book that presents Jesus plainly and full of love & grace, you must read this book.

Rich

Very eye opening in the word of Jesus, from his mission on earth and his plans to persue Humanity despite the flaws we have.

Great reminder of GODs love

This book reminds us that we are saved not by our acts but because Jesus loves us and nothing we can do to separate us from that love. He loves because he is love and he sees who we truly are beyond our shortcomings.
