Jesus Among Other Gods is a brilliant defense of the uniqueness of the Christian message. In addition to giving you the benefit of an impressive breadth of reading and study, Ravi Zacharias shares his personal journey from despair and meaninglessness to his discovery that Jesus is who He said He is.

"It is an evaluation of the uniqueness of Jesus in contrast to the leaders of Buddhism, Islam, and Hinduism, and is the powerful reading for Christian and agnostic alike." (Dr. Michael Green)
I am a Christian who is currently going through an intense Al-Anon based program where the spiritual atmosphere is one of acceptance (i.e. all religions lead to heaven). This has been a real challenge to my faith and how I relate to others who are being forced to consider the concept of God or a Higher Power.
In this audiobook I found what I was looking for, which is a comparison of the teachings of various religions relating to their version of God. I already understand clearly what the bible communicates about God. I wanted a reader's digest version of the teachings of other religions and their gods.
I also found a bit of Mr. Zacharias's personal story which helps me accept that in talking of eastern religions, he has some level of credibility. I was surprised to hear just how many rules there are in following Buddhism.
Those who wish to answer the question of "Which God is real?" may want to consider books such as Lee Strobel's "Case for..." series or my personal favorite, "I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist" by Norman Geisler & Frank Turek.
In choosing books of this type, the reader will come away believing only what they are willing to believe, regardless of how compelling the arguments may have been presented. I recommend this book for what it offers, a comparison rather than a compelling argument.
You need to have the time to think this argument through. The centre of the book is the author's own journey, which shows his own understanding of Eastern religion. From that perspective, Ravi displays Jesus, not in terms of European Christendom but in the terms in which Jesus is presented in the original Biblical texts.
The cultural temptation is to see religion as an almost random private opinion equivalent to one's choice of music or fashion. This book argues that religion is factual, rational and open to final, decisive judgements. The argument is definitely counter-cultural... but all the more enjoyable for that.
Once again, Dr. Zacharias presents a logical argument for Christianity. As always, he does not lean on feelings or tradition to make his points, but rather depends on logic and reasoning to show the reader that there IS a firm foundation for belief in GOD. His presentation style is winsome but unyielding. This is a must read.
My name is Laz O. I'm a firefighter. I enjoy listening to books on tape. I've been hooked since the first one. Enjoy!
Ravi Zacharias argues in a very convincing way, and adds his conversion story. Good read.
Lots of good info--will require a second reading from me to get the most from the book. I like that the author is from a different culture and religious upbringing than most christians, gives a neat insight into his and our christian beliefs.
This was recommended to me and I also recommend it.
Ravi's amazing ability to explain complex religious systems and cut to the truth.
The truth of God and how even over thousands of years still comes through.
I like them all. His melodious voice comes through clear and soothing.
Why God created me and how all other world religions don't measure up in the only category that counts, truth.
It's all about truth. It is knowable if you dare look. Ravi Zacharius has an amazing mind and he uses it to point us to his God who has even a more amazing mind.
Have and did. A great tool to use in sharing my personal relationship with Jesus and enable the testimony of believers to be shared through the opening of the door with sharing this with others. Good conversation is catalyzed by good books. However the most import book is the Word and that my friends carries a promise that it (The Word of God) will not return void! Let us not be history revisionist but rather Truth speakers.
"Voice of reason."
This is a good book. For those with questions about God and for those who already have a faith, i would recomend you listen to this. It is clear and to the point.
"Offensive to non-Christians"
This author seems to feel the need to attack other religions. I advise against buying anything by this hate-monger.
