New York Times best-selling author of Jesus > Religion challenges the accepted thinking of contemporary Christianity with the world-changing message Jesus actually brought.
Jesus was most upset at people for seeing but not seeing. For missing it. For succumbing to the danger and idolatry of forcing God into preconceived ideals. What if there were a better way? What if Jesus came not to help people escape the world but rather to restore it? Best-selling author and spoken word artist Jefferson Bethke says that "Christians have the greatest story ever told, but we aren't telling it". So in this new audiobook, Bethke tells that story anew, presenting God's truths from the Old and the New Testaments as the challenging and compelling story that it is - a grand narrative with God at the center. And in doing so, Bethke reminds listeners of the life-changing message of Jesus that turned the world upside down, a world that God is putting back together.

I love how each chapter is challenging in different areas of our walk with Christ. My favorite part was describing Jesus' baptism. I had not thought about God telling Jesus he was pleased with him before his journey began. How often we try and please God when we need to remember he fully loves us from the start.
Another chapter I enjoyed was on rest and how we view it in our society today. It spoke to me and I know I will return to read that section and many others.
I loved that Jeff narrated his own book, made it more personal. I am also blown away by his maturity and knowledge of scripture and history. It definitely helped bring me closer to God and have a heart focused on Jesus again. Thank you Jeff!!
A wonderful book to listen to. I listened a 2nd time and learned so much more about myself and other thoughts that changed my mind and opened my viewing on issues as well. J B reads the book very well and I did not want to stop listening.
I'm on my third listen and I've told everyone about this book. Life changing. The change in perspective is necessary. The only people I know that have this perspective have very mature faith and Jefferson lays out how we should have a relationship with God. my favorite part is his interpretation of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
I learned a lot from this and it really opened my eyes to many things in Christianity I didn't understand or have a full grasp on.
loved how he takes parts of the bible I've read and are commonly known in the Christian faith and dives so much deeper into the topics to help you really understand what's going on!
you will enjoy this book and I pray that God will speak to you through Jefferson!
