From pastor and New York Times best-selling author Timothy Keller comes the perfect gift for the holidays - a profoundly moving and intellectually provocative examination of the Nativity story.
Even people who are not professing Christians think they are familiar with the story of the Nativity. Every Christmas, displays of Jesus resting in a manger populate lawns and churchyards, and songs about shepherds and angels fill the air. Yet despite the abundance of these Christian references in popular culture, how many of us have examined the hard edges of this biblical story?
In his new book, Timothy Keller takes listeners on an illuminating journey into the surprising background of the Nativity. By understanding the message of hope and salvation within the Bible's account of Jesus' birth, listeners will experience the redeeming power of God's grace in a meaningful and deeper way.

Over the years I have collected quite a number of "Christmas books" - short little volumes written by pastors on the meaning, message and importance of the event and its celebration. This is one of the best. Written with Keller's usual precision and insight, using the story of Christmas, the reader is reminded of the Gospel and that it's message is both radical and needed. Thanks Dr Keller. I needed this.
One of the very best books I have ever read concerning the real meaning of Christmas as well as what does a real relationship with Jesus look like.
Enjoyed the narrator's delivery. Contents was informative and reassuring. Logic and history prevail. I had no issues with his facts and had to finish it all in one sitting.
The audio version allowed me to experience the book more deeply. I was able to listen as I wrapped gifts for Christmas, which focused my heart on the object of Christmas...Jesus Christ!
The Christmas I thought I knew...but didn't
Keller's teaching is useful to every kind of reader -- the skeptic will be challenged, the young Christian will learn a lot and connect the dots, and the mature Christian will discover the more hidden, subtle lessons found in the Bible verses about the Christmas story. This book is excellent for all readers!
The book bings us back to the realization of the Christmas story-God on earth so that we may see his glory. Beautifully written, read, and timelessly enduring, Keller and Pratt rekindle the warmth and love in your heart making Christmas truly enjoyable for the right reasons.
Hidden Christmas is a great book for sinking your teeth into the wonderful richness of all that God is in the stories surrounding Christ's birth. Keller makes the characters real and opens the reader's mind to feel the depths of God's love through the beautiful and meaningful arrival of Emmanuel.
rich Keller theological reflection on the familiar Christmas passages, if you know Keller, this is his classic approach
I really liked the content of the book, but I struggled with the reader. His inflection, the words he chose to accent made it difficult to "hear." I listen to lots of books and this has been the most difficult for me to get through. it was almost like an off tempo song. I'm going to have to buy and read the book, and I'm worried because I bought a few others with this reader. I'm sure others have not had the issues I had and felt it was well done, but it bothered me so much I felt I had to write this and I never leave comments.
