Have a New Kid by Friday shows parents how to reverse negative behavior in their children fast! Focusing on changing a child's attitude, behavior, and character, it contains chapters for each day of the week.
©2008 Kevin Leman (P)2009 Baker Publishing Group
The first chapter gave an overview of what to do each day of the week to change your children's behaviour. Unfortunately, the more in-depth explanation and practical application of how to implement this program seems to be missing. The last 3 chapters are just an alphabetical list of possible situations and how to handle them. They are very brief and simplified and because it is in alphabetical order it doesn't really follow a logical order.
I was a little bit disappointed not realizing that I had purchased an abridged version.
Yes! The information is great and very usuful. Leman's advice is spot on and has helped me raise my boys.
Parenting By the Book! IT'S MY FAVORITE PARENTING BOOK SO FAR!
well...this is my issue. Wayne did a great job...but I feel like the book was better written for READING versus LISTENING.
The sequence of advice was hard for me to follow because the book jumps around a lot from age group to age group. I got lost...pretty often. I was also distracted by my kids, I'm sure....but if I was reading, I could have underlined important facts and taken notes on things that struck me! I'm gonna have to listen again to really retain all the info.
I love Dr Leman. I've heard him on radio interviews. His simplistic approach is refreshing and hopeful. A must read (listen) for every exhausted parent!
Yes, I already have.
I had a few "aha" moment but no dramatic reactions
These techniques will drive your kid crazy and return your sanity.
I recommend this. Good information. Good balanced approach that makes sense. It isn't a whimpy parenting book - do what ever feels good. Not too crazy - just good discipline and rules.
