Publisher's summary

From her first breath of fresh air beyond the pit, it has never been enough for Beth Moore to be free. This best-selling author and Bible teacher, who has opened the riches of scripture to millions, longs for you to be free as well—to know the Love and Presence that are better than life and the power of God's Word that defies all darkness.

Beth's journey out of the pit has been heart-rending. But from this and the poetic expressions of Psalm 40 has come the reward: a new song for her soul, given by her savior and offered to you in Get Out of That Pit—friend to friend. This is Beth’s most stirring message yet of the sheer hope, utter deliverance, and complete and glorious freedom of God:

I waited patiently for the Lord

He turned to me and heard my cry

He lifted me out of the slimy pit

He set my feet on a rock

He put a new song in my mouth

It is a story, a song—a salvation—that you can know too.

Get Out of That Pit is also available in Spanish, Sálgase de ese pozo.

Refreshing dose of Grace!

What did you like best about this story?

I love that Beth Moore narrated this herself. Beth describes all the ways we can get ourselves into "pits" in a very frank and non-judgemental way, which in my experience is unusual in the Christian (particularly the mainline, evangelical denominations such as Beth belongs to) community. But more importantly, she offers help on how to get out of the messes we sometimes find ourselves in.

Life changing

Would you listen to Get Out of That Pit again? Why?

There are a great books and then there are exceptional books from a pragmatic stand point. I couldn't agree with Beth more (no pun intended). We need the practical application of God's word to enable to be open to surrendering to God's changing power in our lives. This one was timely and applying these principles along with Celebrate Recovery accountability I feel truly launched towards the freedom God intended.

What other book might you compare Get Out of That Pit to and why?

Beck Tirabassi's - Let Prayer Change Your Life. The first book that help me to understand how vital prioritizing time with God is. This is the next steps...

Have you listened to any of Beth Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've read Believing God and when Godly people do ungodly things.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had to park my car and listen to the end.

Lemons to lemonade

The author doesn't meet the reader where they are (in a pit), she stands at the top of the opening and yells down "God loves you and doesn't want you to be there"....like I didn't already know that.

the end is worth the price

I didn't really relate to many of the situations that she mentioned in terms of ways of falling into the pit, and I felt the message wasn't personal to my needs, but the end was worth the price. She ends with a chapter of recorded scripture prayers that have been as instructive as they are comforting. Set to nice music, really inspiring me to take my own prayer life to new levels. I recommend this to everyone for the chapter of recorded scripture prayers.

What a Rollercoaster!

I just love it when the author is reading. it's as if Beth was telling me the story personally. The emotions, the feelings, the smells, every one of them transpired. Just awesome.

Relatable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with an addiction, eating disorder, terminal illness or any crisis that seems out of their own control.

What does Beth Moore bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Since it was read by the author it felt very authentic, like every pause and all the intonation was as the author intended when she wrote the book. She has a slight southern accent that makes it fun to listen to as well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried more than once while listening to this book. It gave practical advice that I needed to hear.
