Get Out of That Pit

Beth Moore wants listeners to know that if God could lift her out of the pit, He can get ANYONE out! She admits she wasn't just a visitor; this former pit-dweller had to be delivered from acres of life-accumulated dirt, bone-chilling darkness, spirit-deadening anger, heart-breaking desperation and mind-numbing confusion. Publisher's Summary

Beth Moore wants listeners to know that if God could lift her out of the pit, He can get ANYONE out! She admits she wasn't just a visitor; this former pit-dweller had to be delivered from acres of life-accumulated dirt, bone-chilling darkness, spirit-deadening anger, heart-breaking desperation, and mind-numbing confusion. The permanent lessons she learned in her desperation - shared in this very personal audiobook - are lessons of hope for all of us.

While she deeply empathizes with the hows and whys of life in the "pit", she continually points listeners to the deliverance that awaits. Deliverance is for everyone, she proclaims - no matter how you got stuck, no matter how long you've been down, whether you think you deserve it or not. And in her straight-talking but loving style, she reminds listeners that deliverance can begin for them this very day.

    "Listen to over and over"

One of the best books I have. I've listened to this book a couple of times because I get something new out of it each time. Great book!

    "Refreshing dose of Grace!"
What did you like best about this story?

I love that Beth Moore narrated this herself. Beth describes all the ways we can get ourselves into "pits" in a very frank and non-judgemental way, which in my experience is unusual in the Christian (particularly the mainline, evangelical denominations such as Beth belongs to) community. But more importantly, she offers help on how to get out of the messes we sometimes find ourselves in.

    "Life changing"
Would you listen to Get Out of That Pit again? Why?

There are a great books and then there are exceptional books from a pragmatic stand point. I couldn't agree with Beth more (no pun intended). We need the practical application of God's word to enable to be open to surrendering to God's changing power in our lives. This one was timely and applying these principles along with Celebrate Recovery accountability I feel truly launched towards the freedom God intended.

What other book might you compare Get Out of That Pit to and why?

Beck Tirabassi's - Let Prayer Change Your Life. The first book that help me to understand how vital prioritizing time with God is. This is the next steps...

Have you listened to any of Beth Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've read Believing God and when Godly people do ungodly things.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I had to park my car and listen to the end.

"the end is worth the price"

I didn't really relate to many of the situations that she mentioned in terms of ways of falling into the pit, and I felt the message wasn't personal to my needs, but the end was worth the price. She ends with a chapter of recorded scripture prayers that have been as instructive as they are comforting. Set to nice music, really inspiring me to take my own prayer life to new levels. I recommend this to everyone for the chapter of recorded scripture prayers.

    Story
    "Depth and encouragement found here"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes! This is a book that covers a wide variety of topics in the spiritual life with the wit and encouraging tone that Beth Moore is famous for. Beth's style is that of a friend who has been through difficult times and wants to help you through them by pointing you to God.

What did you like best about this story?

I love the way she talks about and encourages prayer. Beth is a prayer warrior who knows how to make others want to talk to God as fearlessly and passionately as she does.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The part where she describes music and its use in the Christian life and the heavenly realm was my favorite.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

    Be encouraged and be fearless!

    Any additional comments?

Beth Moore is one of my favorite Christian authors because she has such a passion for introducing people to God. She is such a spiritual cheerleader! She is uplifting and joyful in her approach to helping people navigate through life's problems by pointing them to God.

She doesn't water anything down, but she didn't bring me down, either. She focused my attention on how much God loves me and wants to see me succeed - not just in life, but primarily in my relationship with Him.

I will listen to this book again, and I encourage anyone who needs a lift from the pit where life has left them to listen to this book and to be encouraged and fearless.

    "Practical Advice for Practical People"
Would you listen to Get Out of That Pit again? Why?

This is a book that one can listen to over and over again. It is not only imperative to learn how to get OUT of a pit, but how to STAY out. Beth's practical, applicable teachings are perfect for those days when you may feel yourself sliding, or being pushed, or jumping back into that pit.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Get Out of That Pit?

My "A-HA!" moment came as the author was speaking about things we may inadvertently do to cause us to become mired in the mud of the pit. Things we may not consciously realize we do, but as they accumulate can cause that "slide" down into the mud.

Have you listened to any of Beth Moore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first (but definitely not my last) listen to Beth Moore.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listened to this audiobook in my car on the way to work, and more than once found myself sitting in the parking lot wishing I didn't have to go in, so I could stay and listen to more. To me, that's a sign of book worth listening to.

    "Lemons to lemonade"

The author doesn't meet the reader where they are (in a pit), she stands at the top of the opening and yells down "God loves you and doesn't want you to be there"....like I didn't already know that.
