Those who seek God through fasting can expect tremendous rewards both for their personal lives and the church. They will see breakthroughs in many areas, such as healing, finances, bondages broken, and children set free.
Jesus Himself fasted because He knew some supernatural realities could not be released in any other way. For that reason alone, Christians should make fasting a common practice.

As a 46 year old that’s been a believer since age 17, my life changed again in 2001 when I decided to actually READ the Bible. I began a 1 year plan to read the whole Bible. That changed my life and I decided to do that for the rest of my life. My life is good, I am blessed beyond my understanding. However, in seeking to know the Creator more, and looking for new breakthroughs in my life, a friend recommended this book. I have never been a good “faster”. I like to say I’m slow at fasting. :) While listening to this book, the Lord touched me, the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart and I knew this is the new thing I need to make part of my life. I haven’t even begun my fast, yet the Lord has already started blessing me in new ways. I highly recommend this book if you seek breakthrough in your life. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
I have never, never heard fasting described as I've heard here. In plain English, Pastor Franklin explains what fasting is, why it is necessary and how to do it- with options! And the testimonials of those who got in the will of God on the fast! I am sincerely thankful for this work of love.
This was a good read, although not exactly what I'd expected. I wanted encouragement to conduct a fast for spiritual reasons and this helped.
That said, it's riddled with quotes from the bible, intended for Christians mostly (in my opinion) and the constant references to the exact place in the bible was distracting for me. I suppose some listen and pause with a bible in hand but I'm not one. I'm not opposed to biblical quotes but thought the author may reference other spiritual leaders (he's exclusively Jesus oriented). In any case, because of the author's sincerity of purpose I hung in there and learned some great things about the nature of fasting.
I truly enjoyed it. I replay it and it has given me understanding. Bless him for being obedient. I am listening to it everyday as I fast and it continues to bless me. Praise Jesus !!!!
Yes, and we have listened again & again. We have shared it. Franklin brings God's beauty and desire about fasting, right into your heart. We wanted what God wanted for us, and it became more clear & the fasting was easier then ever before. I believe because our hearts were in line with His, God's heart. Thank you J. Franklin. We are forever grateful.
Absolutely, tried to, but ended up listening it in three sittings. There is so much here. Then went back to write out some personal thoughts and take away 8 pages of notes. Now after having listened completely through to FASTING 4+ times our hearts & life's our changed regarding this very important and special discipline.
This book was a new set of eyes for us (our entire family) on Fasting & Prayer. Amazing in-site into God's gracious view of fasting.
I felt God nudging me to go on a fast, but i did not know how or what to fast. I often heard that i could fast from tv or electronics and that would create a more sensitive spirit in me. Those things helped but it did not release the fullness of God in my life that i longed for. Just one day after listening to this teaching I jumped right into my fast. The direction I needed came instantly and circumstances in my life just became clear to me as for the first time. This teaching has changed my life forever.
This book was referred to me by someone else wanting to start a fast.
Once I'd discovered it was on audible I was excited to start reading. Definitely received a better understanding of FASTING.
Have you ever had questions about fasting? This book answers them with scripture. The narration is excellent. This is a book you will listen to over and over again.
"Very good Christian book"
This book explores the spiritual aspects of fasting for Christians and defines why fasting should be part of the life of the Christian.
There is a lot of practical advice on how to go about it and what to expect from it. There is a good deal of exposition of scriptures showing how fasting was used by many more Bible heroes than we might at first call to mind. It is a thoroughly Bible-based introduction to fasting suitable for a wide range of Christians of most denominations.
Right now fasting for dietary purposes has become very popular with things like the Intermediate Fasting diet. This book underlines how fasting for spiritual purposes differs from purely dietary fasting, although the two do not necessarily contradict each other. A fast is like an "all day prayer" as Jentezen puts it, and greatly serves to focus the mind on God and increase our intimacy with God. This gives us access to far greater blessings than just a dietary fast.
This is a book of discipleship, aimed at those who are Christians. It has nothing in it which would offend others who fast, but is written to readers on the assumption that they are already committed Christians. The author also makes it clear that fasting in no way defines whether or not a person is saved. This is a way of increasing blessing and intimacy with God and a more powerful prayer life for a person already saved by believing in Jesus.
