"God created us to live with a single passion: to joyfully display his supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. The wasted life is the life without this passion. God calls us to pray and think and dream and plan and work not to be made much of, but to make much of him in every part of our lives."
This work is a passionate call for this generation to make their lives count for eternity. John Piper acknowledges that the risks for those who seek to accomplish something in life - risks in relationships for the sake of righteousness and authenticity, risks with money for the cause of the Gospel, and risks in witnessing to the truth and beauty of Christ. This book is an essential for any christian who wants to seek God and live in a way that radiates love and truth to the world. Piper uses bible passages throughout this book and weaves in compelling ideas that are supported by scripture. This book contains wisdom and guidance on how to not waste our lives. This book has changed my life.
A truly inspiring book. Helped me to focus on the fact that life is all about preparing for eternity, and that true purpose and meaning in this life can only come from that preparation.
For any serious Christian who really wants to focus their life on serving Jesus.
CHALLENGED TO ACT NOW. What is the next step in our lives so that they count for eternity. Our comfort is not His purpose. The best life now is one lived joyfully for His glory.🙌
As a young man I'm not sure there could have been a more important book for me to listen to at this time. However, no matter what your age is, I think that it will be extremely beneficial for you to read it. I will recommend this book to my friends and family, and I recommend this to you. Well done narration by Lloyd James. Great authorship by John Piper as usual.
A friend gave this book to our son when he went to college. We love Piper and so I wasn't surprised when my son said how much it affected him and handed it down to our daughter in college. It has been years since I looked at it and listening to it again just stirs up that desire for God in the midst of the craziness of life. I pray, dear Lord, we don't waste our lives.
