Dr. Sproul surveys the history of apologetics and demonstrates that reason and science are your allies in defending the existence of God and the historical truth claims of Jesus Christ.

Listeners should note that this actually a series of lectures by Sproul recorded live in a lecture hall rather than an actual eBook. Still though it listens good. Sproul will put your mind thinking.
Yes. It has so many fruits that I'm sure I didn't get them all the first two or three times. I continued backing up my player to listen to some concept to make sure I had heard it correctly.
Nope. First time. But I just ordered two of his books in hard copy and another one from audible.com. Outstandingly clear. You may not agree with him but it won't be because you don't understand what he says.
Awesome. First book on apologetics that I thoroughly understood.
Interesting, especially with metaphors and anecdotes to emphasize points. Cogent, proceeds from the simple to the complex with each step thoroughly explained without being verbose.
College English professor who loves classic literature, psychology, neurology and hates pop trash like Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey.
but I am finding him quite engaging, and, refreshingly intelligent in his approach to theology. I was raised in a non-Calvinist Christianity, but I find Sproul's exegesis clear and comprehensible and true to the orthodox faith. This makes two of his books I have read, and I will be reading more in future.
As a reformed guy I've viewed myself as a presuppositionalist but it felt it was empty. I also think the evidentiallist view is flawed. RC Sproul gives undeniable proofs for the existence of God. He calls this the classical view of apologetics.
I highly recommend this book!
I really enjoyed listening to this book, very into depth in explaining the proof of the existence of God and of the Bible. One of those books that you can go over and over again to learn and catch something new!
It will stiffen your spine as a believer. I love the audio lecture format. His thoughts are very well put together he uses just the right words to explain his position.
No, clearly R. C. Sproul invokes a tremendous amount of bias in his arguments and cannot get out from underneath of this weight.
The book is entitled "Defending Your Faith: An Overview of Classical Apologetics" and so it would seem that Sproul only needs to proceed with this overview as promised. However, he instead continuously interjects his own opinions, arguments, and biases, and turns the book into a very long sermon. Needless to say he does not present one drop of evidence in the entire book to support his views, and doesn't complete the history of the various apologetic arguments and their impact on Christianity nor on their contemporary culture.
The Christian god!
As can be expected from theist apologists, Sproul sets up only philosophical arguments that are tuned to produce the outcome that he wants (Christian god is real). He also mischaracterizes the counter-arguments to his points, atheism in general, and especially humanism, and he does not provide any real evidence to support his philosophical arguments. In reality, based on the title, this book should have been just an overview of classical apologetics, not the guide to his personal apologetic arguments. For a philosopher, his logical reasoning skills seem a bit weak because in reality he presents enough good points to have realized, based solely on what he said, that he was contradicting himself in a few places, forming incomplete arguments, and setting up (or failing to escape) circular reasoning fallacies.
Every Christian should take the time to thoroughly understand their faith. why do you believe what you believe? this is an excellent work to propel you in that direction
struggle to finnish. this is not a book. it is a microphone given to the teacher of a class. it was like a whole semester of college. 20+ chapters just to cover two topics. when he says "I will briefly discuss this" he means spend 28 minutes on the topic... very knowledgeable. great info. buy the cliff notes.
Perfectly structured look at apologetics. Very informative and challenging. Although not too intellectual that it would make your nose bleed.
"A must read for every Christian."
this book is a must read for every Christian. RC is simply amazing...very articulate and very systematic
What can I say. He is such a good teacher. I enjoyed every aspect of this audiobook. Will surely get his other materials.
"Easy to listen to and very enjoyable"
At times challenging but the author takes a step by step approach. Very encouraging and enlightening - put 'flesh on the bones' of some of my own reasoning's and challenged others.
