Publisher's summary

Fr. Robert Barron's comprehensive work goes straight to the core of the Catholic faith. He first examines the foundations of Christ's incarnation, life and ministry, and then works through the essentials of the Catholic tradition: from sacraments, worship and prayer, to Mary and the saints, and on to salvation, heaven and hell. Throughout this epic journey, Fr. Barron uses art, literature, personal stories, Scripture, theology, philosophy and history to present a complete picture of the Church to the world.

The essentials of The Church well clarified.

I found this presentation of Doctrinal principals sometimes difficult to embrace as is, oftentimes, truth.

Bp Barron Narrates

Bishop Barron narrated his own book which turned out really great. The book follows along with the Catholicism episode series. Very well presented, I wish Bp Barron would narrate more of his books.

Reignite Your Love of Being Catholic

Thank you Lord and thank you, Father Barron. As with Saul, I SEE with new eyes and live with a renewed zeal, striving to draw ever closer in a spiritual relationship with God, Christ, Mary and all the Saints. I had selfishly withdrawn from the church because of priests violations of our/God's children. This book helped me through that inner struggle and taught me so much more. If you seek to more fully understand your Catholic faith and the holy foundations upon which it is built, read or listen via 'audio book' to this book. What an enlightening journey!

My 1st bible study, now I just want to share it.

when I ask God to come into my life when I was at my lowest point, amazing things were happening. while looking for all I could find to grow in my faith I stumbled across Bishop Barrons Word On Fire. Which lead me to his books and a 3 hour drive to work daily brought me to Audible which after a search for Robert Barron found this book, which after listening to it for the 3rd time means there is no turning back for me. Was I sent here, these things keep happening to me. My faith is strong now and now I have downloaded many of the Bishops favorite books on Audible. I wish all his writings were on Audible.

Explains and Inspires

Does not replace the Catechism or other classics, but definitely explains and inspires. Already relistening to certain chapters. Will probably buy the book as well.

A Catholic Voice for God.

Bishop Robert Barron has an ideal voice to read what he has written and to allow the Holy Spirit inspire his words and our hearing. This is the voice of Catholicism.

A great read for all Christians

Would you listen to Catholicism again? Why?

This will definitely be listened to again. I think that Dr. Rev. Barron is so interesting to listen to.

What other book might you compare Catholicism to and why?

It's like a theology for dummies book in a way, but it is very detailed in some ways, and very simple and confirming what you know in others.

What does Robert Barron bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This book is not just for Catholics, and it is not just about Catholicism. It is a history of christianity, philosophy, and mankind, with the Catholic points of view and beliefs on many subjects.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It just really made me think a lot, and I teared up a bit listening to the stories of the demise of some of the saints. But, not sad, happy that they died in communion with the Lord.

Great Book!

It is not what you think. This is not left brain info about this religion. It is right brain, the REASONS for this religion. It is not about the doctrines and dogmas, but about the HEART and LOVE from God to Mankind. Even as a cradle Catholic, I am forever learning more and more about my faith and falling more in love with it. Originally, I went seeking for that one reason to leave and follow my brothers and sisters into the protestant faith. Instead, I found a hidden treasure troves of reasons to say put. This book is yet another gold nugget in the treasure chest. It is so good to hear a man of the cloth say such things about this church. Most of the ones I know are legalistic, using fear and intimidation as an attempt to keep me in my place. But Bishop Barron's viewpoints are exactly opposite of what I have experienced in the past. So very refreshing... So very healing.
