This seemed to be someone reading a PowerPoint of all the cliches they've ever heard. There was no meat to the discussion. Very superficial.

    "Interesting Philosophy"

This was a good introduction to basic principles and theories of Buddhism life. It wasn't as much about Buddhism as it was about a framework to apply to your daily life. I found that there were inspirational sections in the book, and I also learned that I agree with much of these philosophies. I wish more people would ascribe to the principle of not having to agree with the viewpoint of others on various things (such as religion and politics), but you do have to respect them. As the author points out, who knows who is right?

This book doesn't go into great depth. However I found it entertaining and informative nonetheless.

I'd definitely listen to it again....

Very good book. Lessons of gratitude are practical and liberating. Timber Hawkye reminds readers that we have so much to be thankful for so easy to get caught up in the fast pace, media driven, power hungry world that we live in that we forget about what is truly important.

    "Shouldn't Comment"

I shouldn't comment on "Buddhist Boot Camp" because this is my first real introduction on this religion. I have no real desire of knowing more because I know who I am and know where I stand in the unknown. Timber Hawkeye's rendition on Buddhism is a pamphlet that you handout to future prospectors to the faith.

All of the rewards and none of the consequences.

What made me giggle is when he answer some of the questions that were posted on Buddhist Boot Camp Facebook page. If I wanted to know more about Buddhism, I would get something else that didn't include a greeting card. I just needed a lot more substance.

    "Good Perspective"
Where does Buddhist Boot Camp rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was not my favorite book of all time but good for beginners. First step book in mindfulness and meditation. Learn Buddhist basics!

Would you be willing to try another book from Timber Hawkeye? Why or why not?

Maybe. It would need to be a little deeper.

What does Timber Hawkeye bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His insight gave me another way of looking at myself and situations. Not life altering but enlightening.

"the book that saved me from myself"

I love the style of Timber's writing. There's no religious dogma in this book, it's just a practical, down to earth, realistic suggestion of a peaceful and positive way of modern life. I listen to it regularly for motivation, centering and inspiration. I came across Timber Hawkeye somehow at a time in my life when I was lost. A time when I was giving my all to someone, found myself left out in the cold and wondering what was wrong with me or how I would ever get over it. Life seemed to be spiralling. Buddhist Boot Camp showed me a different way of looking at the world, a way that would remove fear, blame, guilt and negativity. Suddenly I understood and accepted and the dark cloud of anxiety lifted.

Everyone needs a Timber Hawkeye in their life. No preaching, no "conversion", no religion, no need to run off and wear robes and live in a cave! But a beautiful, inspiring way to find peace among the mad stresses of modern life. I'd wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone.
