Publisher's summary

God’s love has the power to change lives. Christians, then, should exhibit the greatest transformation of all because, rightly understood and cherished, God’s love makes them increasingly more like the One who has lavished his love on them. So why do we so often struggle to exhibit God’s love? Biblical counselor Elyse M. Fitzpatrick asks one simple question: "In your pursuit of godliness, have you left Jesus behind?"

We need to be rescued from our "identity amnesia" and pointed to our true identity as God’s beloved children - adopted by the Father, united with the Son, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Fitzpatrick shows how a genuine transformation of identity leads to a transformation of our daily lives. Those who struggle with either legalism or lawlessness will find encouragement to return to God’s love, the source of authentic and lasting change.

Inspirational, challenging, instructional

The author makes a convicting case for the application of the Gospel to the everyday life of a Christian, not just to bring him or her to salvation. The good news is that, using an abundance of Scripture, she clearly illustrates how the Gospel applies to every area of a Christian's life. The narrator did a great job of interpreting the message of the author. I found myself encouraged and excited about applying the different aspects of the Gospel to areas of my own life.

christ does transforms our daily life

Elyse Fitzpatric is one of my favorite writers, I know I am going to get a clear understanding of Christ and what she is about to encourage. Our daily life can be discouraging but when we have Christ and how He works in the mundane, we find Joy! thank Elyse for this book!

Recommended for those recovering from Pharisaism

I was tempted to say that Elyse Fitzpatrick is trying to "bridge the gap" between faith and works, but of course that would be terribly inaccurate. What she is doing is showing that the gap doesn't exist, and only our misunderstanding of the Gospel creates a chasm.

She does an excellent job of showing how the only true good works are those born of "faith working through love" as the Bible says. She hammers home the truth of God's Love in its rich fullness...not the bubble-gum love of the so-called "prosperity preachers," but the real Gospel love that transforms lives. She helps the reader rest in God's love, not as a place of self-indulgence, but as a base for godly living.

The narrator does a very good job with the text. My definition of good narratior is that she helps the listener immerse herself in the text, without calling attention to herself in the process. Raudman accomplished that at least 90% of the time.
