This is an incredible illumination The Lord has given through the Holy Spirit to an open vessel named Phillip Keller. The rest of his books I've read reflect this also and I highly recommend this and all Mr. Keller's books to anyone seeking a deeper walk with the Lord.

Perfectly chosen narrator. Wonderful example of deep settled Christian faith lived out over a life time in shirtsleeves. Recommend to all wanting or needing fresh encouragement .

Don't hesitate, it's worth it.
This volume clarified much of the language used in Psalm 23 for me, translating my perspective of it as a figurative poem to a narrative of down-to-earth reality.
The narrator's warm, relaxed pace and touch of humor makes the author come alive, as if seated in your own living room.
A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 not only encouraged me, it opened a more personable view of the reality that the Lord IS *my* Shepherd.
He is caring for my here and now needs, He will soothe my irritations, and He is looking out for me when others butt heads over the best "grazing ground".
I was challenged too. Do I persist in slaking my thirsts, my ways? Drinking water ridden with disease? Am I a Ms. GadAbout, always pushing the boundaries that are set for my protection and in my best interest?
This book has been instrumental in opening my heart to view others with more compassion; they also have a Shepherd, and He is seeking to restore them to a perfect relationship with Himself.
I loved its attention to detail of the real life shepherd which led me to better understand why God chose that analogy. Awesome book! I will read it again and recommend it to others.

This book provided a great perspective on Psalm 23. With the knowledge of what Jesus was describing when talking about sheep, it opens a brand-new window into God's kingdom. Since David was a shepherd, it is nice to hear this psalm from a shepherds view.
