Paul sends 1 Corinthians to the church at Corinth, and when they receive the epistle, they are livid! They immediately write back to Paul in very harsh terms (the letter from Corinth has been lost, but Paul alludes to it in 2 Corinthians), prompting Paul to get on board ship in Ephesus, sail to Corinth and address the church in person. It is not a pleasant visit. When Paul gets back to Ephesus he has second thoughts about his “short but painful visit”, and he writes 2 Corinthians to smooth things over.

A very short personal letter by John to “the lady chosen by God and her children”, 2 John may be addressed to a literal woman and her children, or perhaps to a specific church (the “lady”) and her members (her “children”). In either case, John emphasizes that love must be rooted in truth, a concept that we often ignore today. James, the brother of the Lord and leader of the church in Jerusalem, writes this epistle, sometime before A.D. 70. Paul had been very clear that we are saved by grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. At the Council of Jerusalem in A.D. 50, Peter, Paul, James and the other Apostles concurred with Paul’s position, and it is James who, as leader of the church in Jerusalem, orders that a letter be written to all the churches explaining the Council’s decision. Paul never planned to go into Galatian territory, but midway into his second missionary journey Paul becomes ill and his companions take him north over the mountains to Galatia for medical care. While there, Paul forms several churches. Once Paul arrives in Corinth toward the end of A.D. 50, he writes a letter to the churches in Galatia, expressing great concern about them. Paul’s gospel message is quite simple: we are saved by grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Great lecturer!
I teach an adult sunday school class. I use several different sources of information, however i really enjoy Bill's commentary. He has been to the places he is teaching about, and sometimes knowing the physical terrain can add one more layer of understanding. I would highly recommend this commentary to anyone wishing to learn more about the bible.

One of the best teachings of Peter
I have read or heard teaching of Peter1 before and cant believe how much I missed or
skipped over without realizing it. Always good idea to follow along in your Bible.

Stand firm in faith in the face of suffering
The book is a great reminder to stay strong in faith even if our faith leads to suffering. A memorable point in the book is: "be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. Do no repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit blessing." That to me sums up Christians' behavior in the world. Another thing to think about is, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have." As always Creasy does a great job expounding on the text to help us understand what the author is telling us.

Specifics, How to BE
As always, Bill Creasy speaks Scripture and brings it ALIVE, before you in panoramic vision. To me, the Epistle of Peter holds Spiritual wisdom and a " training". Specifically, not just what is expected of Christian's, but more, the detailed areas of our temptation's and challenge's, and how to react to them. Learned much from listening and reading Scripture alongside, from the Epistles of Peter.
