Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

The tales of The Silmarillion are set in an age when Morgoth, the first Dark Lord, dwelt in Middle-earth, and the High Elves made war upon him for the recovery of the Silmarils, the jewels containing the pure light of Valinor. Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

In this day and age of including everyone
I was really excited when i heard there was going to be a ready player 2. So I preordered it and listened to it immediately when it was delivered. I have to say I enjoyed most of the book. Some parts though seemed really forced. The thing that threw me off a lot was the feeling that the story was trying to please everyone or include everyone to the point that it was jarring. It was missing the many iconic geek culture and pop culture throwbacks like the first book, which i loved and listened to many many times. I am a child of the 80s so i loved the many references in ready player two. But I guess the bar was set really high in the first book. Once again Will Wheaton did an excellent job. Please give this book a read if you liked the first one, as it ties up many loose ends. Overall I recommend getting this book if you need a ready player one fix.

Nowhere near as good as the first book
This story seems to be written to push pc culture and it made it incredibly hard to read.
The characters seem to be reduced to nothing but a pc identity, which is incredibly sad becuase it ruined characters like H for me who felt like decently build characters.
H went from an interesting character, to literally just being black, female and gay. That's all that she was reduced to and it feels like everytime she speaks that is all you hear about.
There seems to be a trend where every female character never makes a mistake or has to apologise while also putting down every male character in the book.
It even goes as far as to portray artemis as a godlike being that can literally do it all. And you better not question any of her incredibly stupid decisions or else you would have to apologize for them later.
There are many other issues that just seem to boil down to Politically Correct nonsense being shoved down my throat.
Like even wade is just a bumbling idiot for the entire book and doesn't really achieve anything meaningful. There was so many interesting opportunities during this book to evolve his character but there is basically no development throughout the book.
*spoiler*
The ending felt really wierd, like why would they be sending the ai to look for another planet? What's the point, they are ai, they can't leave the ship. Unless there is something I missed, I don't see a point at all.

Wow!
this was the perfect sequal to one of my favourite books ever! I didn't know where the author could go after the contest to end all contests, but here we have it. a quest like no other with a countdown clock of epic consequences. the twists were mostly unexpected & the conclusion worth reading to the final full stop.
a walk down memory lane through the 80s whilst grappling with current ethical concerns, this book will stand the test of time and be loved by many generations to come.
Wheaton was a pleasure to listen to and played the parts of the characters with consistency.
I will be "reading" this book again!

All characters development undone in last chapter
MC acts like a petulant child. The twist at the end of act one is a learning experience for MC and the main plot setup.
Another reveal in the last chapter effectively says MC was actually right from the start.
Somehow everyone just loves MC at the end just because it worked out and ignores his behaviour throughout.
If you you are incapable of understanding relationships and only take in plot then it is probably a great book/ending.
MC actions/decisions make litteraly zero sense most of the time.
Genuinely unsure if it is poorly written, or the MC is supposed to be on the autism spectrum and the book is actually deeper look into that topic and I just didn't realise the intent.

Great listen. A good sequel.
The plot is laid on pretty thick early on, so it becomes quite easy to piece together exactly what is going to happen.
The charm of the first book is somewhat missing from this one. It still has a charm or its own. The writing seems fairly stripped back and rather straight forward, but it is still a very entertaining listen/ read.
if you are a fan of the first novel you should still love this one also.

Ernest Cline has delivered a good sequel
Ernest Cline has delivered a good sequel, which to be honest is probably best read as an audio book. Will Wheaton brought the story to life beautifully in a way few narrators can do.

I'll always love listening to Wil
Sure, it's a rehash of the first book. I loved the first book though! And the ending is much better this time round. Wil Wheaton is a great narrator as well. The only bit that dragged was the Prince bit. Otherwise, I'm ready player 3 already!
