Sound effects!

If you could sum up Neverwhere [Adaptation] in three words, what would they be?

Fun adventure story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Door was inherently good and idealistic. She stayed true to those traits throughout the story and I was easily drawn to her. However Jessica was probably my favorite just because she was so wrapped up in her busy world and was somewhat clueless in her narcissistic view of life. She reminded me of those times when I get too wrapped up in those things that don't end up mattering much in the bigger picture.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first audiobook I have listened to where several different people played different characters. It was a fun and engaging experience.

Any additional comments?

The sound effects were too jarring. I had to turn the volume way up to hear some of the characters and then an abrasive sound effect, such as the music playing in the marketplace, would make me throw my ear buds across the room.

Short and very dynamic story

What did you love best about Neverwhere [Adaptation]?

The story is very well read (interpreted) and made me go into the characters and the places. It is so good that when I just finished hearing it I went for the TV show with the same name, so I can delight myself a little more with this amazing story.

A Very Welcome Adventure

I was completely unfamiliar with Neil Gaiman and his works before listening to this fabulously acted adaptation. Now, I would be hard pressed to name an author I like better!
His Neverwhere is absolutely steeped in originality...and so flawlessly crafted that it would be almost unnatural NOT to believe in the Lady Door, Rat Speakers, an angel with the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, or in London Below itself....

James McAvoy does a lovely job as Richard Mayhew, a very ordinary young man swept away on an adventure that is anything BUT ordinary. Sir Christopher Lee takes on his role as an Earl with all the charm, dignity, and hilarity as can be expected of one of his pure talent. And with Benedict Cumberbatch as the angel Islington.... Need I say more?

This is a brilliant story, graced even further by a brilliant cast, and I would highly recommend it to anyone in need of distraction.

Really fun radio adaptation of a captivating story

I love Neil Gaiman, even if he tests my comfort zone. I love radio shows. This was a great merging of the two.
