Miles Jupp stars as fussy food writer Damien Trench in six episodes of the much-loved BBC Radio 4 sitcom.
Well-known cookery writer Damien Trench is famous for his book A Year in the Kitchen and is now writing its follow-up volume, In and Out of the Kitchen, in which he opens up the doors “not only to my kitchen, but also to my life”.
During the course of these six episodes, Damien is nominated for an award, finds himself catering for a funeral, agrees to make an after-dinner speech, dips his toe into the world of travel journalism, reluctantly helps out at one of his partner Anthony’s barbecues, and contends with an angry neighbour. He also supports Anthony in his thespian venture in a production of Hay Fever.
Now a BBC2 series, In and Out of the Kitchen is a charming opportunity to peek between the recipe book covers, with a cast including Miles Jupp as Damien, Justin Edwards as Anthony, and Brendan Dempsey as the ever-present handyman Mr Mullaney.
