Publisher's Summary

The complete 10th series of the Sony Award-winning comedy series - plus a Christmas special.

"The best comedy on radio." (Moira Petty, The Stage)

Clare Barker, the social worker with all the politically correct jargon but none of the practical solutions, continues to struggle with her professional and private lives in these seven hilarious episodes, which include a special Christmas edition of the show.

In 'Christmas with Clare Barker', Clare is working through the holidays and has had enough of the whole seasonal shebang. But will a chance encounter bring back a bit of festive magic?

Series 10 sees Brian going on a fitness kick and joining a men's group. Clare, meanwhile, gets involved with a TV producer making a documentary about the Sparrowhawk estate; faces some home truths at a family funeral; attempts to cooperate with her estranged sister; and intervenes with Nali's ex-husband. Plus the Sparrowhawk team work together to overcome a little problem in the office and hold a leaving do, taking the opportunity to reminisce.

Sally Phillips stars as Clare, with a supporting cast including Alex Lowe as Brian and Nina Conti as Nali/Megan.

    "Who cares about Clare ?"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Never have so few owed so much to so little.
The Few - Myself and those sitting close enough to hear the tinny tingle tangle from my earbuds explosively punctuated by nasal snorting, wheezing guffaws and decidedly off kilter inner chortles.
The Much - laughter, chuckles and flickers of recognition ignited by the traits we so readily recognise reflected in those around us, compassion for the frailties of social conscience revealed through Clare's tenuous grasp of empathy - followed by much, much sorrow as the fading credits roll.
The Little - little expenditure and little effort on my part, other than pressing play and settling back to ride the Yamanote line in an endless loop around chilly Tokyo whilst basking in the warmth of British humour.
Thank you Mr Venning, Cast & Production team
    and thank you Audible.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Clare in the Community: Series 10?

The exquisitely spine tingling flood of Clare's bombastic rhetoric... gladly it was too often free flowing to be recorded faithfully without listening with a stopwatch.... (I possess no stopwatch so sadly can't respond with precision...)

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes - the whole series issued so far.... but how can one compare one delicious course from a stupendous banquet with another.... ? -

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Other than almost falling off my seat with intermittent spasmodic laughter.... all of the audiobook tweaked some part of my anatomy.

    Any additional comments?

(Yes... I do recommend this audiobook !)

    "Classic Clare"

Yet another "laugh out loud ' feast. I love the totally unexpected one liners, one of which caused me to burst out laughing whilst walking the dog. Much to the consternation of several passers by! The droll delivery of their lines by a superb cast coupled with the excellent script make this audio book one to treasure. I'm just sad it had to come to an end. For some reason the system won't allow me to give a 5* rating for story , but rest assured I would if I could

    "Another amusing series of C.I.T.C"

This was another amusing series following the escapades of Clare Barker in her social services role.

After 10 series, i'm not sure this is the best of the bunch, but it was still amusing to listen to.

The production boasts a great cast of British Comedy actors, but I missed Liza Tarbuck playing the voice of Helen.

If you have listened and enjoyed all the others then this is worth a listen, but I don't think it was quite as good as some of the previous series (such as the introduction of the eastern European Nanny Narly).
