Stephanie Cole, Benedict Cumberbatch & Roger Allam star in the fourth series of the hit sitcom about the tiny charter airline for whom no job is too small, but many, many jobs are too difficult. By John Finnemore (The News Quiz, Mitchell & Webb).
Run by the forbidding divorcée Carolyn Knapp-Shappey (an unfortunate marriage, namewise, but in Carolyn's opinion, marginally better than Carolyn Shappey-Knapp), her two pilots are the smooth, experienced and almost-certainly-fired-by-a-big-airline-for-all-round naughtiness Douglas, and struggling almost-competent pilot and sweaty man Martin.
All-round help is provided by Carolyn's near-idiot son, Arthur...

If you wouldn't enjoy laughing for a couple hours don't get this… But if you do you have to get this… it was one of the more enjoyable to an a half hours I've spent in recent memory… Absolutely hilarious!!
Funny, cute, lovable.
The humor and comradery between the characters.
Great performances by all!
No- great short episodes. A nice stress reliever after a long work day.
I can find a book to love in any genre -- a beautifully written classic, an interesting mystery or sci-fi, a trashy romance. Bring it!
STORY (comedy) - Cabin Pressure is apparently a British radio show about a zany private airline crew. I didn't count, but there were maybe five short episodes in this audiobook. The characters are likeable and some of the situations are clever and made me chuckle, but for the most part I was only moderately entertained.
PERFORMANCE - This series is done by a wonderful professional cast, all with British accents and distinguishable voices. It sounds much like watching a sitcom, complete with a live audience and lots of great sound effects. Five-star performance, for sure.
OVERALL - This series is apparently popular and highly rated but not my cup of tea. If you like British humor, you probably should check it out. It's very "clean" with no sexual references, violence or bad language.
I got all the jokes. The characters are funny and the stories kept me laughing. I'm glad I bought this and will continue the series.
New favorite. I've always loved Stephanie Cole, and who doesn't enjoy Benedict Cumberbatch? But my new favorite is Roger Allam; he's marvelous! Thanks to John Finnemore for this series, and for darling Arthur!
Wonderful comedy! My brother and I always wanted to learn how to fly a plane . He achieved his small craft pilots license, I made it through to my glider pilots license. The cost got us . This radio show gives you a glimpse of how difficult it is in a comic way . But offers a ray of hope for the truly dedicated to there dream . The actors do a wonderful job .
Cabin Pressure I stumbled across by accident. But it makes me laugh everything I listen to it and would highly recommend too all!!
John Finnermore is a fabulous writer!
"A new radio classic"
John Finnemore has now created a radio rival to TV's Fawlty Towers. What a Brilliant fizz buzz of a show.
"BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!!!"
I BELIEVE THE AUDIO VERSION IS BETTER BECAUSE THE CHARACTERS ARE SO UNIQUE, YOU WOULD LOOSE A LOT OF THE WIT AND CHARM IF IT WAS JUST IN PRINT VERSION, THEIR VOICES ARE LIKE LIQUID GOLD! - YOU'D MISS THAT IN PRINT!
I LOVED ALL THE CABIN PRESSURE AUDIO BOOKS, THEY ARE JUST AMAZING, SO SERIES 1, 2, AND 3 ARE EQUALLY AS SUPERB, I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YET ANOTHER MASTERPIECE.
ARTHUR, AS HE IS JOHN FINNEMORE THE WRITER, WHAT A CLEVER TALENTED MAN, HE DID SUCH A MAGNIFICENT JOB WITH ALL SERIES I WISH THERE WAS MORE TO BUY. OH, STEPHANIE COLE, ROGER ALLUM AND OF COURSE BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH WERE ALL SO FABULOUS IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CHOOSE.
OH, IT SO MADE ME LAUGH. I WORK IN THE TOURIST BUSINESS AT A MAJOR AIRPORT AND IT IS SO TRUE IN MANY WAYS, AS THE THINGS THAT HAPPEN ARE REALLY SILLY, FE SABLE, VERY LIKELY I LAUGH EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO THEM.
AFTER A HARD DAYS WORK I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING BETTER THAN TO SNUGGLE INTO BED, CONNECT MY IPOD AND LISTEN TO CABIN PRESSURE, IT'S FUNNY, ENTERTAINING AND THE STARS ALL HAVE VOICES TO DIE FOR, THE PERFECT VOICES FOR AUDIO. WHAT A WAY TO DRIFT OF TO SLEEP, HAPPY!!MY IPOD HAS BEEN USED SO VERY VERY MUCH, I WOULD LOVE TO WIN A NEW ONE, AS NOW I DON'T NOW WHAT I WOULD DO WITHOUT IT!
Yes - in fact have listened several times. On long car journeys feels almost as if travelling with friends whose humour makes the miles fly by!
At various stages all of them but if pushed would go for Stephanie Cole's Carolyn - great one liners.
Excellent voices - perfect for characters - thanks BBC.
Laugh - and generally raised spirits on long journeys!
"Cabin Pressure-wanting more!!!!"
Very funny, downloaded before my holidays and listened to the complete series 1-4 another
4 times since... Very well made "This is why us Brits are still the best" when it comes to sarcasm and witty banter ...Douglas you're my Hero...
"Funniest radio comedy for years"
This latest addition to the Cabin Pressure series continues its reputation as one of the funniest radio comedies for many years. Great characters, from innocent, hopeless Arthur to the wickedly smooth Douglas, and inventive story lines. It's a great ensemble cast, which even features Benedict Cumberbatch as the put upon Captain of MJN air. A must listen, along with the previous series.
Another brilliant outing from the MJN crew. A "brilliant", sharp witted script penned by the fantastic John Finnemore and made all the more dazzling by excellent performances from a flawless cast. Contains real laugh out loud moments in each episode. Along with the humour is the fact that you really grow to care about the chaotic lives of each member if its crew. A must buy.
Arthur. He is played with real innocence and you cannot help but warm to him.
All of them.
"Funniest Radio Series ever...Great Cast, wonderful"
I would recommend this series to anyone who purports to have a sense of humour and see them laugh all the way through. Every member of the cast is brilliant and the writing is brilliantly observed.
The characterisation is so well acted, I believe in Martin and Douglas,
Listened to all 4 series many times and it never fails to make me laugh, even when I know what is about to happen
Only sorry that John Finnemore is not writing more, although he has just released his plans for the final episode 'Zurich' which will be broadcast in the new year...
The total lack of swearing and sex is an absolute
palet cleanser, a style essential if we are to progress rather than regress.
The entire cast is perfectly selected and perfectly balanced.
"John Finnemore is a comedy god!"
Episode after episode of beautifully crafted character comedy, with wonderful development linking episodes. Truly laugh out loud comedy - always intelligent, and sometimes childish (in a good way), John Finnemore's use of English is nothing short of masterful.
