Publisher's summary

Retired bank manager George Pearmain is apparently dead. According to the behaviour of everyone around him, it seems he is no more. Not only that, but his mother has also passed away – and on the eve of her 99th year. Not only that, it could be that they were both murdered. Apart from that he feels fine.

As George’s family gather for the 99th birthday celebration that never was, he hovers around, watching and listening, entirely unseen, and makes all sorts of discoveries about himself, his wife Esmerelda, and his supposedly happy family....

I want Nigel Williams as my friend

This is funny storytelling. Don't you hate it when you wake up dead and your wife is berating you for being a lay-about when your mother has just passed on this very same morning? George Pearmain is having that kind of day and even being dead doesn't spare him the company of his family who are either neurotic dingbats or overbearing control freaks. Who has visited this comedy / tragedy on poor George, though? I won't say more, but I really, truly enjoyed this book.

Nigel Williams, you are a proven genius to me, you made me LMAO with the audiobook "HR" BBC Comedy series, then I found this and it cured my rampant anxiety I usually suffer on my long trips to visit a doctor. Thank you, again and again!
