Publisher's summary

What could possibly be in Longbourn Crater that was worth their while? When damage to his ship forces Captain Darcy to land in an unexpected location on an alien world, he's not prepared for what he finds. He expected aliens, certainly, but he didn't expect a contingent of humans related to Earth's most notorious traitor, or for those humans to be his crew’s only chance to repair their ship and complete their mission. Brilliant and beautiful, the human women they meet seem poised to do more harm than good.

Elizabeth Bennet may have been raised on an alien world, but she knows enough about human men to recognize a snub when confronted with one. She definitely has no time for supercilious captains who view her father as a traitor to humankind, but she’s more than happy to apply her considerable skills to repairing the Earth humans’ ship. The sooner they’re off her planet, the better.

Pride & Prejudice and Planets is an alternate-reality science fiction variation on Jane Austen’s classic Pride & Prejudice. Discover how Captain Darcy, Elizabeth Bennet, and all their usual companions negotiate alien races, dangerous space travel, and each other.

I hope this becomes a series with many more adventures in space and on other planets. :)

Original & fun

Becoming one of my favorite variations. The world building is very well done while everyone still remains in character. Love the new recording.

Love the mixture of pride and space

I wasn’t sure I’d like this book as it got started but it just kept getting better. I love that the Bennett women are so accomplished including Lydia.

Really enjoyed the read and modernization

Benjamin Fife is the best narrator for this book

Benjamin Fife was the perfect narrator for this story because he has an incredible voice range and a natural talent to bring the characters personality into the voices he creates. As this book has multiple characters from many different species, his unique narration elevated the readers experience. Benjamin Fife is definitely one of the best narrators out there and he surprised me once more with his talent. I highly recommend the audiobook version of this book.

A great listen

I’ve read this novel a few times. It's that good. But Benjamin Fife’s range of character voices brings this great sci-fi take on Pride and Prejudice to life.

JAFF and SciFi - what’s not to love?

A great story and a great narration. Recommended listen. 20 + hours somehow isn’t long enough.

A marriage of my two great loves!

Being a sci-fi geek and JAFF lover, this was right up my alley! It was fascinating to listen to my favorite Austen characters in a whole new context!

The twist at the end was worth the 20 hour listen, and I never got bored with the story!

Ben Fife did a great narration!

Great story and narration

I loved the narration. I had read the book prior to listening but the narration improved the experience. Benjamin Fife brought life to all of the characters

How can you lose with these authors and this narrator?

I’m not a Science Fiction expert but this story was so good. *****++

The premise of the Bennets living on another planet ‘in exile’ because of a traitorous situation back on earth, was creative and set the tone for the kind of reactions the family received from certain unexpected visitors.

The World Building was fascinating. All the many ‘alien species’ their characters, habits and interactions with the humans on the planet Takitara was great story telling. The arc of the story, from Ambassador Bingley’s ship making an emergency landing on the planet in an unexpected location which happened to be Elizabeth Bennet’s spaceship repair shop and Darcy sticking his foot in his mouth, Caroline making a dangerous fool of herself, Bingley and Jane falling in love….the story follows canon but in a truly unique way. I loved the P&P supporting roles being played by different species.

The reader/listener is in for a treat and some great surprises. I love the way the book ended. It has a question at the end. I wish be listening to this again and again.

Highly recommended.

An Austen Space Opera !! Very Fun Variation

I thoroughly enjoyed this Pride & Prejudice in Space version. Interesting transference of the original story into the Future and among the stars. The narrator was fine, but I thought his voice a little too old and wobbly for young women, especially for Elizabeth. Still, I did listen with enjoyment and I am sure I will again.
