Sonny and his parents are caught in the zombie outbreak in upstate New York. After the passage of the first year, their base is attacked by bandits and their safety has again been compromised. Fearing for their loved ones, Sonny’s parents send him and his orphaned childhood friends, Ashley and Carrie, to Fort Denver Colorado on a military plane.

Much more than a zombie thriller!

This book was perfect for a cross country road trip. It’s fast paced story telling kept me enthralled and alert. The author captures the innocence, vulnerability and strength of the ‘coming of age’ main characters. Survival forces them to mature quickly and difficult choices challenge their developing values and beliefs. They overcome unthinkable situations while bonding with each other. You can’t help but root for them along the way. The ending leaves you wanting more, luckily, the second book in the dark days series - Sanctuary - is available.

Really Good and Somewhat Sad Zombie Tale

Young Kids in the Zombie Apocalypse (pre-teens to young teens) and they have a heck of a time surviving and have to grow up fast. I liked this story but I hope the next installment has a few more bright spots. Of course - the zombie apocalypse isn't supposed to be happy - is it?

Awesome audiobook, can’t wait for book 2

I really enjoyed the story written from a young boy’s perspective, a sort of coming of age in a new post-apocalyptic world filled with zombies. The narrator did an awesome job capturing emotions and subtle undertones of the characters. Highly recommend this audiobook to everyone. I know all of the apocalypse junkies out there would love the series.

Kids Zombie Apocalypse

This might entertain the younger crowd, but it is definitely not an adult oriented book. The narration is ok, but his child voices are too whiny. Young dialogue is not believable at all. AT ALL. Situations are not believable at all either.

Can’t recommend for adults. Also can’t recommend for kids...c’mon it’s zombies. Maybe ok for high school kids.

ten year old fashionEASTa in the zombie apocalypse

I couldn't finish, in fact I got my credit back. First chapter the book is told by a ten year old who describes his parents as super attractive down to muscles &has to describe what their wearing. Then proceeds to do the same thing with his friends...just weird and not typical. later in the book they meet up with survivors & he describes their physical appearance too and has a grown-up discussion about love, yep love with a complete stranger. I don't know what ten year olds this author has observed but my guess is he needs to do more research. yikes.
