Publisher's summary

What if the sleeping beauty never woke up? Once Upon a Dream marks the second book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways.

It should be simple - a dragon defeated, a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over.

With a desperate fairy's last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape - created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn't alone - a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent's agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are, and moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up?

Good Book!

This is a good book! At first, I was confused at the beginning of the story and whats going on. Later on, the story made sense, and I loved the idea of what was going on with the book.!

I liked it. 👍

I loved how this book talked about mental health. it might not be for everyone but it pushed the boundaries of social norms and that is why I liked it.

Amazing.

I love the idea of reimagining stories we know. I like this one because Aurora has to save herself, no one can do it for her. Maleficent is just as cruel and evil as she is in the Disney film, and the author really expanded on what makes her evil and why she is. This is not an exact retelling, and I loved that. Prince Phillip, King Hubert, Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather help to keep the story going and interesting, and there are plenty of twists, turns, and close calls that make you feel like you're in the story right by Aurora's side, and in her head, literally. Amazing book. I cannot wait to listen to the others in the series!

I only I like this one NOT loving it

I actually own the paperback book and it was very hard to finish it. when I bought it on audible I found it much more likeable however the story still felt lacking. James Cronin is my favorite narrator!

Disney with a Twist!

I am a fan of works that update, satire or parody other works. This one takes Sleeping Beauty to a "what if this happened?" scenario. It totally works. This was such a fun story and took the fairy tale in a whole new place. The narrator James Patrick Cronin delivers a wonderfully narrated tale. Totally worth a credit!

You really have to pay attention!

The story was all over the place because it goes between multiple dreamlands, it took me a minute to figure it out, but once I did, it was pretty entertaining.

Very interesting twist!

I loved the story line, but I feel like a woman would have better narrated it. The women characters outnumber the men so this male narrator had to do many female voices. Which he did well, I just feel like it would’ve been better as a woman. Other than that, the story was confusing, but in a good way. I finished the book in a day because I couldn’t wait to hear what happened next. It’s definitely worth a listen.

A good read for anyone who loves fairy tales.

Definitely a twist to the familiar story. My daughter and I loved reading this together.
