Another Great Book in a fantastic series

Completely on the record, this second book in this series BLEW. ME. AWAY! It was just so... so... everything. Now I'll admit, the first book, Off the Record, left me a little bit unsatisfied. I felt like it was missing something, I wasn't as emotionally invested in the story line initially as I wanted to be. Well, this book, On the Record, was a game changer.

I really loved Brady Maxwell in the first book. He was, honestly, what kept me engaged in a book that otherwise left me disconnected. So color me surprised when this sequel, a story where Brady is virtually absent in much of it, completely consumed me from the very first page. I don't know what happened, I can't pinpoint what exactly changed, but this book was just glue. I could not pull myself away.

I feel compelled to note that the writing of K.A. Linde grows with each book she publishes. This story, in my opinion, reflects her strongest writing yet. I'm not typically a fan of third person narrative. In fact, I avoid it at all costs usually. But this author does it right, does it in such a way that I don't notice or care that it's not written in first person. I never felt like I was left wanting for anything, I felt it all, heard it all, saw it all. I was completely in it. The writing felt really clean, perfectly polished. I savored ever single word.

The pacing and the timing in this book was spot on. The development of the relationship between Liz and Hayden was exactly what I needed it to be to believe in it. And I did! I was scared. This relationship between the two built on such a foundation of goodness, of honesty, of everything that was right, precisely what Liz needed after her heartbreaking departure from Brady. So of course I was afraid of how my own attachment to Hayden would play out in the grand scheme of things. I could not have been more surprised by everything that unfolds in this relationship. I want to scream and laugh and cry over how perfectly imperfect the course of events unfolded... but I can't. Listen to it, so we can rant together!!!

The reemergence of Brady... the perfectly angst-ridden scenes where the author thrusts Liz and Brady back into each other's lives, if only for a moment. I wanted to jump for joy and curl up in a ball and cry. Every word... every miniscule touch, ever heated glance... it. was. just. delicious. Deliciously hot, deliciously devastating... all the things K.A. Linde delivers, but in such a new, refreshing way. The things they say to each other... they say EVERYTHING I always hoped I'd hear, the good and the bad. I could just eat this book up.

The plot turns in this book NEVER STOP. But the timing, it's all just so perfect. It's never drama for the sake of drama, angst for the sake of angst. It's all completely crucial to the story line, paced perfectly, never over the top, never too subtle. My use of "perfect" is redundant, but I don't care. Everything about this story, every single word is exactly where it should be to form this unforgettable, unputdownable, sexy, angsty romance.

I felt everything I hoped I'd feel reading this book and so much more. The details and the nuances of this story... I could talk about it all for days. I probably will. But to avoid spoilers, I'm just going to say this... get on board and enjoy this ride. Don't wait for the next installment before you take the plunge. The queen of angst outdid herself with On the Record. I want to run around carrying her on my shoulders because she totally freaking nailed it!

Natalie Ross is one of my favourite narrators and she was fantastic in the delivery of the story.

10 stars!!!!!

I was soooo worried this book would have the second book blues, I just loved the first one so much I prepared for the disappointment...luckily I didn't have to be disappointed because this one was better than the first!

We pick up where book 1 left off..Liz has walked out on Brady...she doesn't want to make him choose between the campaign and her so she chose for him. Now she is trying desperately to get on with her life, shouldn't be too hard, people break up all the time right? Well that is what she tells herself anyway! As she tries desperately to go on living a normal life she thinks of Brady every day, but she made her choice and now she has to live with it and TRY to build another life, a Brady free life...a new man....a new direction. But how do you build a life when your foundation is gone?

I am LOVING this series!!! I was a bit dissapointed that we didn't even see Brady for like 3 hours but he got there eventually...and then was gone again...at that point I was with Liz, I was longing to see Brady too!!! When a book can grab you like this and has you rooting for the characters and hoping for them then you know you are into a good book!

Have a mentioned I love this series? I am going to be so sad when this is over, but the ride has been so worth it!

PERFECT SERIES BUT HOW LONG MUST I WAIT FOR BOOK 3

What a great second instalment that had so much emotional turmoil and drama as Liz tries to pick up the pieces of her broken heart and move on with someone new but it's hard because images of Brady, the oh so sexy Senator, haunts her every move.

The storyline, the heartache, the passion, the angst, the sex, the narration, the twists, the betrayal and the enduring love that was all contained in this well written book had me debating listening to this, and book 1, all over again. Well all that and a perfect Hero!!

Worth a credit? If I'd used one then YES I would be more than happy, but at under $8 I'm ecstatic..... and that's exactly what I'll be when book 3 becomes available.

Great 2nd installment!

Would you consider the audio edition of On the Record to be better than the print version?

Yes, definitely!

Who was your favorite character and why?

In this book, Brady! Love hearing the dialogue in his head.

Which character – as performed by Natalie Ross – was your favorite?

Liz

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love is political.

Any additional comments?

I typical don't read a series unless at least 3 books are already released. Not a fan of cliff hangers, but am thankful I don't have to wait a year for the next one.

I am so mad I could not stop listening

This is a book you hate but can not put down. How come? First time it had ever happened to me. Seems like a freaking soap opera. You hate the heroine, feel sorry for her, love her all at once.
She is now deep in it w/Hayden, and he is sweet but at the same time stupid, brilliant, competent and too good for his own good (could man up a bit to be less annoying).
The congressman is strong, hard but totally clear w/ what he wants and hot. Totally different from the undecided Liz. He acts on his feelings and wins Liz back when part of the truth is written by Callie and Hayden. A total mess, soap opera mess but you just get caught...
Well hell, just go for it. I will start the last book now...

Amazing Narrator Voice

Who was your favorite character and why?

Brady is my favorite character but he just so Brady!

What does Natalie Ross bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Natalie Ross has the best narrator voice! She not only nailed the female voice but she does great male voices as well!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

The beginning was a bit slow with Hayden being so perfect but you knew the shoe was going to drop you just didn't know when!

Good series

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Great narration, good story but felt like author kept re-capping the story to often in all 3 books.

What about Natalie Ross’s performance did you like?

I'm a big fan of Natalie Ross, I love her voices and the way she reads. I picked these books simply because she was the narrator.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

The story was great.

Any additional comments?

I hate when they keep re-telling the story so often, it's like they are just trying to add pages to the book or they think the reader isn't smart enough to remember what was just read.

Another HIT!

Any additional comments?

I loved this book as much or more than the first. I really enjoy a book that actually gets my blood pressure rising, this book has it all, a leading male you love and the other you love to hate! I can't wait for the final book in this trilogy I am sure will have me listening over and over like the first two. If you like a book with steamy sex, twists and turns and characters you want to punch in the face then this is for you!
