What the Critics Say

"Lum and Abner, elderly storekeepers in Pine Ridge, Arkansas, encounter humorous adventures and mishaps, often due to Abner's misunderstandings, with an occasional serious episode supporting the war effort. This program includes 36 episodes (under 15 minutes each, recorded without commercials), which were broadcast consecutively in 1942. Sound quality is excellent. Enjoying old-time entertainment requires sympathy, this show more than some; one must overlook the mild stereotyping of rural people as ignorant or peculiar. But the sympathetic listener will find gentle, sometimes silly, humor that is still enjoyable and worth a chuckle." (AudioFile)
