This radio dramatization of the classic movie features Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman re-creating their Academy Award-nominated roles. It aired on February 12, 1945. The Lux Radio Theatre was one of radio's most popular series, attracting Hollywood's top stars and boasting a lavish budget. It began in 1934 by featuring dramas from Broadway, but there was not enough material to support the show. In an attempt to reverse the slipping ratings, the show was moved to Hollywood in 1936, where there was plenty of material and talent. In fact, filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille often served as the host.Hear more collections of radio movie dramatizations, or listen to all of the individual programs by themselves!©2006 Radio Spirits Inc. (P)2006 Radio Spirits Inc. Great production of Hemingway’s wonderful book. Coop is Robert Jordan; joined by his frequent costar at Paramount Akim Tamiroff, & his beautiful leading lady, Ingrid Bergman.
I can’t recommend this Lux Theatre any highly, than to say, read the book, & watch a copy of the film.
You will thank me.
Listen to this show; Gary Cooper was an American treasure, & he shines.

I bought this audio performance for at several reasons. It was a short & sweet abridged version of a literary classic being performed by legendary actors with a musical score and good sound effects. I was not disappointed.

Great radio era acting.

This was a great classic that was such a novelty. To hear everything explained in such an old fashioned manner. Long forgotten things and expressions. Reminded me of when we didn't have internet or Facebook. And you met someone and were great friends with them and then never saw them for the rest of your life.

Great Classic That Still Brings The Heat

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone with equipment that uses better sound quality than my pickup with a Bose sound system.

Any additional comments?

I would really to love to hear this story, but the sound quality was too poor for my enjoyment.
