Publisher's summary

The big media have spoken on the question of global warming, and the debate is officially over. "Be afraid, be very afraid", warns Time magazine. But have Al Gore and his environmentalist allies really proven their case? Not even close, says Christopher C. Horner.

In The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism), he exposes the shoddy science, plain dishonesty, and hidden political agenda behind the biggest phony environmental scare since, well, since green predictions of catastrophic global cooling in the 1970s.

The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism) provides a provocative, entertaining, and well documented exposé of some of the most shamelessly politicized pseudoscience we are likely to see in our relatively cool lifetimes.

Hot topic: listen to more about global warming.

Excellent

Excellent debunking of the greatest hoax ever played on us. Alarmists (fear mongers) always seem to have an ulterior motive, and Horner does an excellent job of exposing it.

The book is perhaps a bit repetitive at points, however each reuse of a point has a reason and I found it only mildly distractive.

Eye Opening...

For someone who always considered themselves environmentally friendly (i.e. myself), this book managed to finally make salient the uneasiness I felt with the "chicken little" spouting of the impending Global Warming catastrophe and it's purveyors. I encourage flat and round earth-ers alike to listen, do some research and decide for yourself.

Greenies aren't as smart as an 8th grader

Fact: The celebrities and media moguls that promote global warming don't have an 8th grade knowledge of economics. Oil companies against global warming? All fixes that are supposedly in place are based on rationing. If supply goes down, but demand goes up, oil/gas companies can sell less for MUCH more. Remember Enron and California?

Fact: Antarctica ice is the most pure and can give "global" information(Al Gore)? Yes, I saw the movie. It was good.... Wrong, but good. Ever hear of Mount Erebus? It puts out more GHG per day than all of mankind does in a century. Want to guess where it is? Antarctica

Fact: Diane Sawyer is intellegent? She brings some "specialist" onto 20/20 to tell everyone that the antarctic ice is thinner on our side and thicker on the other. Took a day for me to dumb down enough to understand he was saying this. No thought on jet stream, prevailing winds, centrifugal force, or any other general physics.

Fact: US number 1 in GHG? No, but we are number 1 in co2 emmisions. Why? We spent billions turning CO (the nasty deadly stuff) into CO2 through catalytic converters. China doesn't have these rules. So they pump out massive ammounts of CO. I know this because I was there for a month and never saw the sky except when it rained. Next time you hear it, notice they say we are number 1 in CO2, and then try to link it to number 1 in Greenhouse Gas (GHG). They ignore the rest of the important DEADLY gasses.

All the high school economics dropouts (celebrities) and media prostitutes (news IS ratings since the birth of CNN) ignore all this because there isn't news in it.

Listen to both sides before it costs us all a fortune. The oil and gas companies are just WAITING for the greenies to win. It's all about money and fear. And with both sides in it for the same goal, we are in serious trouble.

Amazing Book

I had no idea. I am amazed at the political manipulation we are being subjected to. I was a constant advocate for whatever was green and anything that contributed to Global Warming but now I know better. This book is a must read. I challenge the so called "Green People" to get a fair balance by reading this book. You will start to understand what you are doing to all of us. President John Addams said once "Facts are stubborn things". Read it for the sake of the millions of people you put at risk.

Interesting but overly repetitive

I’m reading this much after it was published, but overall I’m not sure if there has been a lot of change since then in the issues.

The last third of the book really seemed to be repetitive, so it likely could have been shorter and made the same points.

More hyperbole than information

I have read Elizabeth Colbert's "Field Notes from a Catastrophe" and the Modern Scholar lectures on "Global Warming" as well as seeing "An Inconvenient Truth". When I finished these books and movies, I became interested in reading about opposing scientific information. I went in with a open mind about the information. However, I found that the author spent more time giving nonspecific information and general comments about the integrity and intentions of the people involved with Global Warming research, i.e. Al Gore, Jim Hanson, the French government !! and EU, than he did discussing the scientific underpinnings of the dissenting scientists. It was only into the second half of audiobook that he began to more systematically cover a scientific point or fact with a counterpoint. His overall premise that the global warming debate is only a ruse to create a UN based world government which plans worldwide wealth redistribution is a little over the top even for a pundit. But I found the discussion about the accuracy of some of the information going into the climate models intriguing and worth reading more about. He did give suggestions on further reading which would probably have a stronger science basis. I would recommend skipping his book and pursuing his suggested readings instead.

A little too conspiricy theory

I liked the science of this book and agree that more open debate needs to be in place before we go cutting off our nose to spite our face. I was involved in the Air Conditioning industry when CFCs were being phased out and guess what? Science now leans toward the idea that these chemicals were not creating that ozone hole - it's probably a weather pattern. BUT we aren't bringing back the efficient CFCs we probably wrongly phased out.

However, "green is the new Red"? The argument just didn't hold up and it sounds a bit silly.
The best approach for a book like this is to "follow the money".
See who is best positioned to benefit from the changes implemented to avert man made global warming and see if they are behind the agenda.

Informative but there were many places where I just shook my head and went back to my book about the Roswell cover up:-)

"well documented" ?

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend with qualifications.

What could Christopher C. Horner have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I dare not characterize what I think Mr,. Horner could do to make this more enjoyable for me!

Which scene was your favorite?

It will be the scene of the author eating crow in the sequel.

Could you see The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism) being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes if the title was The Politically Inexact Guide to .......
Really, no movie should ever be made of this unless for
use in a school for sociopathic development.

Any additional comments?

It's an effort at sarcasm with a conservative bent.
