Learn about the Loch Ness Monster with iMinds insightful audio knowledge series.Throughout the world, there are hundreds of lakes in which monsters are said to live. None of these lake monsters is more famous than the Loch Ness Monster, who is said to inhabit Loch Ness in Scotland.

“Loch” is the Scottish word for a lake or a large body of water. And Loch Ness, situated near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, is the largest body of water in Great Britain. It is a freshwater loch, roughly 750 feet deep. It contains more freshwater than all the lakes in England and Wales combined. Although Loch Lomond, also in Scotland, is bigger with regards to total area of water, due to Loch Ness’ great depth, it is the biggest in terms of volume.

Loch Ness is approximately 23 miles long and 1.5 miles across at its widest point. Due to the peat content in the surrounding soil and strong undercurrents deep below the surface, visibility in the water is incredibly low.

Nessie in the Loch

This is a fun one, all about Nessie, her history, who saw her first, how the story spread, and all the sightings since, A true mystery, right up there with Big Foot. True of not, we can all use a little magic and intrigue.

Seemed like a guide to not believe.

Glad it was under a 9 minute long listen as any longer would have caused me to stop listening. The author is certainly pushing his theory that a creature does not live in Loch Ness. I don't know either way, but have always been fascinated.
