Publisher's summary

In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. Now, in The Audacity of Hope, Senator Obama calls for a different brand of politics: a politics for those weary of bitter partisanship and alienated by the "endless clash of armies" we see in Congress and on the campaign trail; a politics rooted in the faith, inclusiveness, and nobility of spirit at the heart of "our improbable experiment in democracy". He also speaks, with surprising intimacy and self-deprecating humor, about settling in as a senator, seeking to balance the demands of public service and family life, and his own deepening religious commitment.

At the heart of this audiobook is Senator Obama's vision of how we can move beyond our divisions to tackle concrete problems. Underlying his stories about family, friends, members of the Senate, and even the president is a vigorous search for connection: the foundation for a radically hopeful political consensus.

A senator and a lawyer, a professor and a father, a Christian and a skeptic, and above all a student of history and human nature, Senator Obama has written a book of transforming power.

Amazing book

This book is one of the best books I've listened to. Great insight to Obama the man, his thoughts and believes. Obama's voice is addicting as usual I wished the book would never end.

Just ok

I didn’t like this one as much as I enjoyed Michelle’s. I think I expected something that he just isn’t and that’s ok. I was on the Barack train but if I heard this before his candidacy, I still would have voted for him. The saying lesser of 2 bad choices comes to mind. The book kind of jump around for me. So it was hard to follow.

Barack, the man.

A wonderful book, my first audio. I have since listen to others but this man was and is the one of the best men in government and the ,1st black president. He has character, style and integrity.

Amazing

Wonderfully insightful. Compelling and 12 years later still relevant. Greatest president ever. A man that really cares about the United States.

Wish I had this years ago!!

This book not only provided a snapshot of a point and time in history as seen through Barack Obamas eyes, but it educated me on government. I have a new found respect for this man and the service he provided to our country while juggling his duties as a husband and father. A must read regardless of your politics!
