Publisher's summary

It’s amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein in his political exposé The Amateur. Tapping into the public’s growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama’s toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance has run our nation and his presidency off the rails.

“Obama was both completely inexperienced and ideologically far to the left of most Americans when he entered the White House,” says Klein. “And he was so arrogant that he didn’t even know what he didn’t know.”

Klein, who is known for getting the inside scoop on everyone from the Kennedys to the Clintons, reveals never before published details about the Obama administration’s political inner workings, as well as Barack and Michelle’s personal lives, including the inordinate influence Michelle wields over Barack and her feud with a high profile celebrity; the real reason Rahm Emanuel left the White House (it wasn’t for family reasons); why Valerie Jarrett’s role is closer to that of Rasputin than impartial senior advisor; how Obama has purposefully forgotten and ignored those who put him in power, including the Kennedys and the Jewish and African American communities in Chicago.

From Obama’s conceited and detached demeanor, to his detrimental reliance on Michelle Obama and Valerie Jarrett’s advice, to the Obamas’ extravagant and out of touch lifestyle, The Amateur reveals a president whose ignorance and incompetence are sabotaging himself, his presidency, and America.

Critic reviews

The Amateur is the best book I’ve read on how Barack Obama is wrecking our country. I urge everyone who cares about America to read Edward Klein’s eyeopening book.” (Donald J. Trump)
“This is a racy, entertaining, informative book that illuminates apects of Obama and his team that have not been previously reported. A necessary antidote to the Obama worship that is sure to characterize the election debate.” (Dinesh D’Souza, New York Times best-selling author)
“A devastating indictment of the lethal combination of incompetence and radicalism that has made Obama into one of the worst presidents in American history.” (Norman Podhoretz, New York Times best-selling author)

Excellent Book

This book was written and narrated very well, not to long just right. I hope Obama is not reelected.

Fear the media's power to influence an election

If you could sum up The Amateur in three words, what would they be?

scary, frightening and enlightening

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

I forget how many stories there have been about Obamas "Gaffes" whether anti-capitalism, presidential abuses of power, and most importantly his inability to understand how basic human nature works in the real world.

Which scene was your favorite?

his anti-Israel nature

Are You Really Supprised That He's A Politician?!

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes. Learned about some of the power struggle for the Presidents trust/need that goes on inside the White House.

Would you recommend The Amateur to your friends? Why or why not?

Not really. I can summarize 6 hours of audio book in a few sentences.

Obama is a Politician: he uses people to get what he wants.
Obama trusts his Chicago people in his administration more than his non-Chicago people.
Obama will drop you like a hot potato if what you've done will come back to him negatively.
Obama is cold inside, only interested in himself, will cut people who helped him win the Office if his very close black chicago advisors/administrators say to.

Not much else of a story to tell here. Book could have been 1-2 hours long.

What about John McLain’s performance did you like?

Who is John McLain?

Was The Amateur worth the listening time?

Not really. Should have been a 1-2 hour book. Nothing shocking here about a Politician.

Any additional comments?

A politician acts like a politician. What's so new about that? Did you think Obama was not a Politician at heart?

Great book, how did we elect this guy

I recommend to all who vote for democrats and who think BO is doing a good job. Those that believe that are either fools or liars.

Read/Listen to Understand The Real Obama

Bill Clinton is correct, Barack Obama is an amateur.
This book covers most of Obama political career, from his autobiography around the age of 35, his failed campaign to the House of Representatives, near bankruptcy, near divorce from Michael Obama, to gaining support from prominent Black leaders only to ignore them when he became a Senator.
The book then covers his poorly run administration and points out his glaring issues. It is a shame this man was reelected a second term but it is highly questionable if Mitt Romney would have been a good President.
Highly recommend this book to understand how this thin-skinned man got to be in a position as President he was NOT qualified for.

Four Years Late

If you could sum up The Amateur in three words, what would they be?

Four Years Late

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Enough of the data was available in 2008 for anyone to anticipate the outcome of the past four years. But most were not interested in the hard data . . . only the dream.

Have you listened to any of John McLain’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I do not keep track of the narrators.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Data beats emotion . . . every time

The Amateur

What did you love best about The Amateur?

The facts, The whole book was based on interviews the author had with many sources. It was scary. I hope The president learns more in these next four years than he did in the first four.

What about John McLain’s performance did you like?

I could concentrate on what was said not how he was speaking.

An excellent book

What did you like best about The Amateur? What did you like least?

The book descriped another view of looking at Obama. That if you listen to it before the 2012 election, you would have thought Obama will lose for, its very negative on Obama. So, you have to listen with an open mind.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Defintely i will go the movie.

Any additional comments?

none

Every American...it is a must read!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

It gives the reader a true view of the attitude and selfishness of the Obamas through the eyes and mouths of some of their most loyal supporters. There is no way you can like these people for the way that they use people, whether ally or foe. Read it and you draw your own conclusions, but it is real hard to think that they are nice people, no less capable of running this great country.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The idea that Reverend Wright was offered $150,000 in 2008 to keep his mouth shut during the primaries and that he turned it down is very compelling.

Any additional comments?

You need to read this whether you are a Republican, Democrat, Conservative or Liberal.
