Publisher's summary

It’s amateur hour at the White House. So says New York Times best-selling author Edward Klein in his political exposé The Amateur. Tapping into the public’s growing sentiment that President Obama is in over his head, The Amateur argues that Obama’s toxic combination of incompetence and arrogance has run our nation and his presidency off the rails.

“Obama was both completely inexperienced and ideologically far to the left of most Americans when he entered the White House,” says Klein. “And he was so arrogant that he didn’t even know what he didn’t know.”

Klein, who is known for getting the inside scoop on everyone from the Kennedys to the Clintons, reveals never before published details about the Obama administration’s political inner workings, as well as Barack and Michelle’s personal lives, including the inordinate influence Michelle wields over Barack and her feud with a high profile celebrity; the real reason Rahm Emanuel left the White House (it wasn’t for family reasons); why Valerie Jarrett’s role is closer to that of Rasputin than impartial senior advisor; how Obama has purposefully forgotten and ignored those who put him in power, including the Kennedys and the Jewish and African American communities in Chicago.

From Obama’s conceited and detached demeanor, to his detrimental reliance on Michelle Obama and Valerie Jarrett’s advice, to the Obamas’ extravagant and out of touch lifestyle, The Amateur reveals a president whose ignorance and incompetence are sabotaging himself, his presidency, and America.

“This is a racy, entertaining, informative book that illuminates apects of Obama and his team that have not been previously reported. A necessary antidote to the Obama worship that is sure to characterize the election debate.” (Dinesh D’Souza, New York Times best-selling author)
“A devastating indictment of the lethal combination of incompetence and radicalism that has made Obama into one of the worst presidents in American history.” (Norman Podhoretz, New York Times best-selling author)

Obama Fans Aren't Going to Like This Book!

Would you listen to The Amateur again? Why?

I would definitely listen again as there are some back stories surrounding Obama's closest aids that I found very interesting.

What other book might you compare The Amateur to and why?

Dick Cheney's memoir has similar stories. This book is about someone on the far opposite to Cheney though.

What about John McLain’s performance did you like?

I felt the narration was very good. His voice was clear and easily understandable.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

Valerie Jarrett seems to be a puppet master and works closely with Michelle Obama in making key decisions.

Wow great insite into the Obama Mindset

The point of this book is to show how those who have worked with Obama think of him and place the Obama administration in context of experience needed to do the job of President of United States. Listen and form your own opinion of the value of the book. Great Listen.

Taken with a grain of salt

What did you like best about The Amateur? What did you like least?

I like the insight into the lives of the most powerful people on the planet. I dislike the fact that the writer seems to have an agenda or an axe to grind.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The politics was eye opening if all is to be believed. Nothing really uninteresting, its all quite entertaining but like the saying says 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story'.

Would you be willing to try another one of John McLain’s performances?

No. The guy needs to sharpen up his vocabulary. Clintons dog is not Sea Mus, it is actually Seamus pronounced Shaymus. There are many more examples.

Do you think The Amateur needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

A follow up is not necessary, the writer doesn't like Obama, end of story.

Any additional comments?

Obama sounds like a pretty normal guy to me, he has his faults and he has his good qualities, many of the criticisms are pretty weak. The writer seems particularly negative towards any type of European style welfare system for the population. I come from Australia and we have a huge welfare support system in place, I get taxed a lot but as a bonus I don't have people shooting my friends for $10 and sick people actually getting the help they need regardless of their income.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the fact Obama has taken a hard line with Israel might have something to do with this books existence.

EXCELLENT

If you could sum up The Amateur in three words, what would they be?

Well wriiten, interesting, well documented fact based book on the amazing, non-sensical, meteoric rise of the unqualified bum that is Barack Obama.

should Be Required Reading for All Americans

Would you consider the audio edition of The Amateur to be better than the print version?

It is an easy listen and has plenty of impact as an audible book. I occasionally wished I could mark (and refer back) to certain pages.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Amateur?

The discussions involving Bill Clinton.

If you could give The Amateur a new subtitle, what would it be?

A book that should be read - no matter who you wish to vote for this Fall.

He certainly IS!

This should be required reading for all voters. It explains some of the seemingly irrational and sometimes rediclulious actions of this Administration. The bok is, in general, eye opening as to why we are in the mess we are in in America.

Nicely narrated, well-researched book

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I'\ve already recommended this book to a number of people. It contains a lot of information that you simply won't hear on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, etc.

What did you like best about this story?

I appreciated how well-researched the narrative was. The author interviewed countless people for this book (with Rev. Jeremiah Wright being the big prize), and he let the quotes from those individuals tell the story.

Which character – as performed by John McLain – was your favorite?

I liked the way the narrator changed his voice when he was reading quotes from other people. Nicely done.

OMG!!! EVERYONE IN THE NATION MUST READ THIS BOOK

Where does The Amateur rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

CLOSE TO THE TOP!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Mostly because there were facts from before Obama was in office and from people he was dealing with - in the trenches. It really shed light on how he treats people.

Have you listened to any of John McLain’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No - I just wanted to merely be more informed about Obama & how he's messin gup this country.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Cry - Because if Obama gets in for ANOTHER 4 yrs, we are screwed!

Any additional comments?

I just hope this gets read by as many Americans that can vote as possible!

Truly awesome! Obama, should not be president!!!

If you could sum up The Amateur in three words, what would they be?

The facts that everyone should know about this true amateur who should have never been elected president. Now that he has, he should be impeached before he does more damage to this GREAT Nation or the rest of the world!

3 words..... Amazing, truthful and addictive!

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The facts and storytelling sucks you in wanting more!

Which scene was your favorite?

The entire book!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I have listened to it 3over times now.

Any additional comments?

As I said, AWESOME!!
