Publisher's summary

Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes, and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance

The New York Times best-selling Freakonomics was a worldwide sensation, selling more than four million copies in 35 languages and changing the way we look at the world. Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner return with Superfreakonomics, and fans and newcomers alike will find that the freakquel is even bolder, funnier, and more surprising than the first.

SuperFreakonomics challenges the way we think all over again, exploring the hidden side of everything with such questions as: How is a street prostitute like a department-store Santa? What do hurricanes, heart attacks, and highway deaths have in common? Can eating kangaroo save the planet?

Levitt and Dubner mix smart thinking and great storytelling like no one else. By examining how people respond to incentives, they show the world for what it really is: good, bad, ugly, and, in the final analysis, super freaky.

Freakonomics has been imitated many times over - but only now, with SuperFreakonomics, has it met its match.

Good but not great.

A worthy read if you liked Freakonomics, but not as good as the former. I would grab this book of you have extra tokens, but not buy it outright.

Good, but a few stretches

They had me until they went into the concept of election participation. Overall, similar quality to the other stuff, though I prefer the original and think like a freak.

As good as the first

Where does SuperFreakonomics rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love this book in that it gives many interesting, factual tidbits wrapped around interesting main stories. The research is unique and presented in an engaging way.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

The hook for each section made you wonder how two very different things could be related.

Which scene was your favorite?

Where it explains what Al Gore and Mount Pinatubo have in common

If you could give SuperFreakonomics a new subtitle, what would it be?

Everyday things explained in a new way.

Any additional comments?

I'll keep buying these books if they keep making them like this.

Levitt and Dubner Do It Again!

I must admit that I had high expectations for this book. Thankfully, they were met and exceeded. Aside from dwelling a bit long on the subject of prostitution (pervy much?), this is an engaging and mind-expanding work of thought provoking economics.
