Publisher's Summary

An innocent family finds itself completely helpless against the sudden onset of paranormal activity in their quiet rural home. A knife embedded in a kitchen cupboard, crockery smashed by invisible hands, and blood-chilling growls emit from thin air. Caroline and her husband Neil search for answers as they try to protect their family from the unseen entity that seems determined to rip them apart. The biggest question looms over them like a dark cloud ... who is going to help us?

There are emergency services for many things, but not of this nature. It might be easier to believe temporary insanity, if not for the vast amount of witnesses. Police, fire services, mediums, priests and investigators all become embroiled in the mystery. The family struggles to cope, and Caroline grows concerned for her husband's failing health as he withdraws from the world. However, the entity has only just begun. Paranormal Intruder is the true story of one family's brave fight against an invisible entity. Described as one of the best-documented cases of paranormal activity, this book will stay with you long after you have finished reading it.

"Terror Would Be A Bit Of An Understatement"

I'm not a gal who goes to scary movies, I have never read a Stephan King novel and I certainly don't read Koontz. So, what in my right mind made me download this little diddy. I'm not sure either but the problem is like Jalapeno Spiced Almonds this book was an addiction into terror.

Was it the narrator who put the additional twist of scariness in this new fandangled better than ever audio book system? I'm not sure, but I do know that this author has awesome pacing and adds just enough residual terror. To make you want to keep moving forward in the mist.

The characters are also rather unique and different not your normal run of the mill zombie in this story. No way, Author Caroline Mitchell has penned quite the interesting stand the hair up on the back of your neck paranormal. It is wonderful creepy, and makes you just a tad nervous walking into that dark doorway. I have to admit sending the dogs down the hallway first for a few nights.

The dogs were drawn in with the narrators voice as much as I was, each evening as I sat sipping my Merlot, Enjoying the quiet of the desert, the narrators voice played melodically in the background. It was not a chore to listen to, rather soothing in a fear gripping, kind of way.

The dialoge helps tell the story but more important gave insight into the characters and allowed a feeling of getting to know them. While not marring down the progress of the storyline. Speaking of which was expertly timed and had plenty of action layered into the narrative, diagloge so that it didn't feel plopped down in the middle for effect.

Over all I would say this is a great paranormal because it does what is intended scares the hell out of you. I'm giving it a five because I like a book that does its job,

This is more than just a haunted house. It's a hostile, not-so-subtle, evil thing that has ensnared a couple and won't let go. It really makes you wonder what you would do in their place. Highly recommended for any horror story buffs.

    "Just okay, definitely NOT scary"

Maybe it was my fault for expecting more drama and horror in this book but to me, it was nothing more than a list of events read out loud. If you are looking for a personal account of odd happenings, you might enjoy this book. If you're looking to be scared or enthralled then I think this will be a let down. I also didn't particularly care for the narrator either.

    "A Brave Re-telling"
What did you love best about Paranormal Intruder?

Finally a story about a regular family caught off guard by what millions of other families have experienced-the paranormal. I truly appreciate the ease with which this story seemed to have been written and the focus on events that changed their lives forever. I also appreciate the honesty regarding how hard it was to get reliable assistance from the church. The panic, the desperation, and the terror were palpable. The events that unfolded for this family took them places they did not even know existed. As the family wrestles with how to hold on to their home they are faced with phenomenon that demands their attention and takes over their lives.

What about Shiromi Arserio’s performance did you like?

The tone and cadence of the narrator's voice made this story very easy to enjoy.

    Story
    "good reviews deceiving..."
What did you like best about Paranormal Intruder? What did you like least?

Honestly, the thing I liked best about listening to this book was to hear how different "English" words are from "American" words... like car park instead of driveway, bag liner instead of trash bag, fire brigade instead of fire department, etc. I think that for the kind of story I was looking for, that's pretty sad.

Was Paranormal Intruder worth the listening time?

Honestly, I absolutely love audiobooks and have listened to many. Some of the ones that I have chosen from audible.com have been purely based off of reviews I have read. Like this book. I was very disappointed in the story. I knew it was a short story, but even short stories can pack a punch. This one did not.

    Any additional comments?

I was not impressed at all by the story itself. It was a little convoluted in that the entity in the story is scary, then turns friendly and almost comical, back again to scary and friendly-ish... it didn't make sense. I also felt as though I was listening to a paraphrasing of the story. It was all surface with not a whole lot of detail to allow you to picture things in the mind's eye... All in all, not that great of a story both for the price and for the high ratings.

    Story
    "Could be worse..."
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Perhaps to a friend who's already listened to most Paranormal Fiction and is looking for something new.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

It just seems unfinished...and very repetitive (multiple cigarette reference and/or a visit to the local pubs). I know the author is telling us there true ordeal. Yet I just don't understand why common sense was not applied.

    For example -

No.1 - The spirit, ghost or "Phil" is not a lost soul, a married couple who past away many years ago or a little girl. It's a inhuman spirit - a Demon.

No.2 - You don't start conversations with inhuman spirits. They are liars and seek to only lead you astray. You may think demons would only cause pain and suffering. Ask yourself if you think these fallen angels are stupid enough to come at you with the same technique over and over again? Of course they want to cause harm to people, but that is not there No.1 goal. Do you know what is? To lead us away from God. To do that, is to bring joy to them. So they will use and do anything to accomplish this sadistic goal. If it's haunting your home, possession or perhaps a happy encounter with a dead family member. These are all tricks they use in order for the lion to devour the lambs.

Do you think Paranormal Intruder needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Honestly the book leaves us filling unsatisfied. I hope they were able to realize what this paranormal intruder really was and found the way to rid themselves of this demon or demons.

"Had high hopes but supremely boring"
What disappointed you about Paranormal Intruder?

Nothing particularly interesting happened. I knew it was based on a true story but I had hoped that it would maybe be made more entertaining for listening to but it was not.

Has Paranormal Intruder turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not necessarily. I would be wary of true stories in the future but I would definitely still listen to audiobooks on the paranormal.

Have you listened to any of Shiromi Arserio’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    No I have not

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narration was not bad. Personally I usually am super picky about whose voice I can listen to for hours on end so the narration was fine. The story itself was what was not worth listening to

"a true account proving that demons exist"

Having lived in a haunted house myself with similar but not quite the same incidents I found it very interesting. I fully believe that this is a true story, especially the quality of the written statements at the end.

I do find it odd that they did not look into why the activity started. There was a reference of Neill using a Ouija board as a teenager. Maybe something attached itself to him then? Considering the fact that most of the witnesses were police officers, why did they not do something to investigate its origin, or what it was.

They should not have kept talking to it or asking it to do party tricks

On the whole, the book is an interesting and good listen. It certainly makes one think about there being life after death and that there is good and evil in this world possibly on a parallel dimension.

"A scarily honest account of paranormal activity"
If you could sum up Paranormal Intruder in three words, what would they be?

The words that spring to mind when describing this story are honest, scary, and genuine.

What other book might you compare Paranormal Intruder to, and why?

I don't normally read buy accounts, I'm more of a Stephen King fan. But I was told about this book by a friend and decided to give it a go. It's hard to compare it to another book as it was written by a police officer, and there aren't many stories like these out there!

What about Shiromi Arserio’s performance did you like?

She had a nice clear voice that was easy to understand and pleasant to listen to.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes but during the day, not bedtime listening!

    Any additional comments?

I was blown away by this story and would recommend it to anyone interested in hearing a good ghost story. I kept thinking about it afterwards and found the author's website, there's lots more information there and the EVP sounds are very creepy.

"A truly terrifying but interesting true account."
Would you consider the audio edition of Paranormal Intruder to be better than the print version?

I think so, given that I'm an audio fan, this book was perfect how it was.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Paranormal Intruder?

I enjoyed the communication that took place. I won't say too much as don't want to post spoilers but the whole book is pretty awesome.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I enjoyed when some charlatan tried to come round and got caught out. The writing her was perfect to set the sense of how amusing it would have been to be dealing with in this situation.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    'I want you out'

    Any additional comments?

Just that I enjoyed the book and will be looking at how this author has transferred her clear talent in writing over to the world of fiction.

If you like true stories, then this is for you!

This world has no way of control u have to allow such forces in before they can destroy and rip apart a human soul so answer is simple leave well alone walk away and warn the innocent or unaware that evil is real and lurking in every corner of this world waiting for a invitation in .
