Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of The Bomber Mafia, learn what sets high achievers apart - from Bill Gates to the Beatles - in this seminal work from "a singular talent" (New York Times Book Review).

In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different?

His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing. Along the way he explains the secrets of software billionaires, what it takes to be a great soccer player, why Asians are good at math, and what made the Beatles the greatest rock band.

Brilliant and entertaining, Outliers is a landmark work that will simultaneously delight and illuminate.

Fascinating

This is not my first Gladwell book. I find his perspective fascinating. During my review of the book, I did occasionally think to myself that some of his conclusions are based on anecdote. however overall, I believe that he had an important perspective to the mythology of personal success and rugged individualism. It was a page-turner. I do recommend this book highly to anybody interested in understanding all of the components that go into making a successful individual.

Great Advice and Interesting Analysis

People will innately want to disagree with the ides of this book; but, I think it's an honest and correct analysis of the hidden winds that blow the successful forward. Even more than that there are practical applications you can draw on a bunch of subjects. This was the most well thought out non-fiction book I've ever read.

Eye and mind opening

This book was suggested to me and I am thankful. It goes to further confirm many of the beliefs I’ve long held about humans as a whole and perceived superiority. Hopefully those that read it draw similar conclusions. I really enjoyed it.

A great book on real-life outliers

Interesting and thorough analysis of real-life outliers. Gives a different perspective on success, without completely disregarding the common idea of hard work

Success facts, stories and insights that inspire!

I like the way Gladwell narrated success stories and digging deep into the background and historical side of it. The success stories he shared and its roots obviously make sense and nothing new- but making the detailed analysis of it convinces me that indeed taking advantage of the opportunity in front of us is the only way to succeed.

I like the chapter where he talks about the plane crash incidents and how communication takes an important role to ensure safety of passengers. It is a painful truth that happens in our everyday life - what seems to be trivial can be crucial in the success of an endeavor!

In many parts of the book, I felt he was insinuating that parents play a crucial role in their kids' success if they not only support them but intervene in a lot of ways when it comes to asserting themselves to ensure their success their work or studies - including complaining to the teacher who "did not do her job" (This is my interpretation). I particularly believe that kids should learn how to swim on their own and not depend on parents in a lot of ways. But somehow this book convinced me that I should do more intervention (a little bit more) considering my local situation.

Overall, the book is a happy encounter - a lot of learnings in my pursuit of success and parenthood.

Eye opening and honest listen.

This book sheds light on the truest path to success for many believed to be outliers. It shows what is possible for the rest of us. Loved his voice, it has a soothing tone to it!

Malcolm Gladwell is a Legend

Everything by this man is amazing. Such a gifted story teller.

The research in this book is very compelling. The messages are thoroughly explained and in such an interesting and entertaining method. The raw data used for this book would not be very interesting to just read on your own, but some how through the magic of Malcolm he is able to tell these stories in the most interesting of ways.
