Publisher's Summary

We are not alone.

And we never have been....

For years we've been taught that human progress has been a long, slow climb from the primordial ooze to hunter-gatherers to empires. But what if that's only part of the story?

Best-selling author and legendary conspiracy researcher Jim Marrs, who has investigated the recent financial crisis, the JFK assassination, and the national socialist takeover of America, now takes on his biggest subject: the history of mankind. Offering mind-blowing information that will radically alter the way we think about the world and our place in it, Marrs goes beyond the revelations of his classic Alien Agenda, interweaving science and authentic archaeological finds with provocative speculation to show how human civilization may have originated with nonhumans who visited Earth eons ago...and may still be here today.

Our Occulted History overturns conventional knowledge and beliefs, presenting compelling evidence that the Earth once hosted prehistoric civilizations using technologies that very well may have surpassed our own. Sound unbelievable? Just a few hundred years ago, so was the concept that the Earth revolved around the sun.

Marrs sifts through the historical, scientific, and cultural record, showing how numerous ancient texts and tablets tell of visitors from the stars colonizing the earth. From the flying vimanas of the Hindu Vedic literature and the flying shields reported by the Romans to the mysterious airships of the 1800s and the UFOs of today, he argues that someone other than us is still present on this planet. But are these visitors simply observers - or do they play a much more active and controlling role? Jim Marrs raises this shocking question and more in the provocative and persuasive Our Occulted History.

The truth is out there...and in here.

    "A horrible narration ruins this..."

The accents were horrible and needless and distracted from the information in the quotes.
Also, the narrator butchers names of people and places so horribly that it distracts from the reading.
Very poor choice in narration. Never use him again.

    "Brings it all together!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Our Occulted History to be better than the print version?

This is a no-brainer for me because I don't have the time or good eyes to READ a book any more.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    N/A

What about Dave Courvoisier’s performance did you like?

The narrater did a decent job, but I agree with other reviewers that the accents were a bit distracting. Having said that, I can see why he did it, because the way the author was including so much research material, it would have been difficult to distinguish between what THEY were saying vs what HE was saying. The accented narration made it clearer who was talking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    N/A

    Any additional comments?

I've been seeing more and more lately that has convinced me that our planet, at the very least, has had extraterrestrial visitors in the past. This book does a great job of bringing a huge amount of disparate evidence together to make that case even more convincing! Mr. Marrs, as always, does meticulous research, and makes this reality pretty hard to ignore. Loved the book!

    "Embarrassing performace"
What disappointed you about Our Occulted History?

The narrator. He didn't take the time to research the correct way to pronounce names such as 'Ick" rymes with "Like" not "pick." He would go into a silly high pitched voice when he was reading a "'British" character. Otherwise he was just vanilla.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Get a professional reader that cares about his craft.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dave Courvoisier?

The author. Honestly? Anybody that has a pulse.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Interesting subject matter.

    Any additional comments?

The book was not badly written. It was just a hodge podge of collected stories with no real depth of research. But, the narrator didn't have enough respect for the work to even try. If he was trying then it's really sad.

    "Great book"
If you could sum up Our Occulted History in three words, what would they be?

Outstanding work, recommend. Jim's book is excellent. The end is so dark. I had to play it in spurts as the stuff being said was irritating to me in the least. The reader was trying to use goofy accents and changed his voice some-what which was annoying. The reader also continually miss pronounced names or people. Other then that, the main topic was outstanding and accurate. Jim tells the truth and it is not always what we like to hear. I found a lot of what he said to be "Eyes Wide Open" and not for those who want to hear a happy story because there is not a lot of happiness in the book. Strongly recommend if you like to know what really goes on and how we are basically kept in the dark.

What other book might you compare Our Occulted History to and why?

Future esoteric by Brad Olson, same theme but more ET

What three words best describe Dave Courvoisier’s voice?

Ok, knock off the nonsense with the accents unless you can do them correctly. Stop lowering your voice to try and portray cerebral thinkers.Wrong pronunciation of the names of people. That was something that needed to be crossed checked.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I liked that it was longer and I could listen to it in two or three days

    Any additional comments?

good book, long was good. Please offer Future Esoteric by Brad Olson.

    "Painful"
What disappointed you about Our Occulted History?

I feel like I have been tricked into purchasing "Jim Marrs Quotes And Paraphrases Zecharia Sitchin". (No, Dave Courvoisier, it isn't Sit-Kin. It rhymes with kitchen)

What didn’t you like about Dave Courvoisier’s performance?

    What horrendous narration!
AMAZINGLY BAD and pointless voices. Most sound like Margaret Dumont in a Marx Brothers movie or Brando in The Godfather.
Mispronounced names and words are littered throughout (Karlton Heston, for example). He even manages to mispronounce "heretic".

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love the subject matter. Plus it is very relaxing to listen to this while you lie on the couch or cook or whatever. The only thing I don't like is how annoying the narrator is when he tries to imitate accents and women. He does a Russian, English, crotchety English, American of all kinds, country.....everything. And it would be sooooo much better if he would just read. The accents are SO STUPID and make me literally roll my eyes everytime.

"Get yourself a tin foil hat and prepare to cringe."
What did you like best about Our Occulted History? What did you like least?

Overall it was a run-down of already published theories on ancient aliens, NWO, etc. If you've never read anything about these topics this might be an interesting primer. The worst part was the narration. I actually cringed at the horrible impersonations by the narrator of the various nationalities of those being quoted. Seriously? I have to listen to someone do a bad Indian or German accent when they read the words? It distracted from the story and was comical.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Dave Courvoisier?

Dave Courvoisier was fine, it was just stupid that he felt the need to read quotes in awful, stereotypical accents.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No, but I might watch it on The History Channel if nothing else was on.

    Any additional comments?

    Skip it.

    "Utter rubbish"
How did the narrator detract from the book?

He spoke too fast. There was so much information, but it was presented too fast to process.

    Any additional comments?

There wasn't much "evidence" given to support the title. There were a lot of anecdotal stories, but that's about it.

"At Least Jesus Was not an Alien"

Now that I have your attention, if you like conspiracy theories, this will be perfect for you. This is the 3rd Jim Marrs book I have read and while each brings some new material, he tends to repeat himself in each book as they all point towards his thesis on human history. Jim's presentation also tends to be a bit scattered as he jumps from one topic to another via a tenuous thread of logic. Also, the title is misleading as the Occulted History only covers about half the book as he reverts back to his commentary on US government and the one world order. I am impressed by the sheer number of anecdotes and facts(?) that he brings to the reader, but he seems to try too hard to connect things. The book can only touch the surface of many topics that Jim raises and more in depth research on each would likely be theses in themselves.

In conclusion, although skeptical, I was thoroughly entertained, and appreciate the many mysteries that Jim presents for us, but I am not yet convinced in Jim's underworld. And regarding my title, he carefully analyses and debunks many biblical figures in his review, and leads the breadcrumbs to the doorstep of Jesus, but he chickens out there which was surprising given his disregard of boundaries. Maybe that is planned for his next book. Finally, I can echo other reviewers' comments regarding the poor narration and accents.
