Dear Listener,

In February 2013 I gave a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast. Standing a few feet from President Obama, I warned my fellow citizens of the dangers facing our country and called for a return to the principles that made America great.

Many Americans heard and responded, but our nation’s decline has continued. Today the danger is greater than ever before, and I have never shared a more urgent message than I do now. Our growing debt and deteriorating morals have driven us far from the founders' intent. We've made very little progress in basic education. Obamacare threatens our health, liberty, and financial future. Media elitism and political correctness are out of control. Worst of all, we seem to have lost our ability to discuss important issues calmly and respectfully regardless of party affiliation or other differences. As a doctor rather than a politician, I care about what works, not whether someone has an (R) or a (D) after his or her name. We have to come together to solve our problems. Knowing that the future of my grandchildren is in jeopardy because of reckless spending, godless government, and mean-spirited attempts to silence critics left me no choice but to write this book. I have endeavored to propose a road out of our decline, appealing to every American’s decency and common sense. If each of us sits back and expects someone else to take action, it will soon be too late. But with your help, I firmly believe that America may once again be "one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

An unusual man and book

Part autobiography, part political, part practical. Obviously intellectual, yet down-to-earth. An unusual combination. Interesting book and glad I "read" it.

Great insight into Ben Carson's thoughts!

Though it seemed a little preachy, the book greatly reveals how Dr. Ben Carson's thoughts have been formed. As far as his steps to restoring our nation, I found them well thought out and fair.

An excellent source of pure and simple truths!

What made the experience of listening to One Nation the most enjoyable?

The sincerity and simplicity of Dr. Carson's stories, teachings, and wisdom is awe inspiring and VERY motivating. He not only teaches what we can all do to help our country, he gives excellent discourses on interpersonal interaction, conflict resolve, personal development, and the importance of true learning.

What made the experience of listening to One Nation the most enjoyable?

Dr. Carson succinctly lays out his vision for restoring America in plain English. He discusses in depth where we have fallen away from the Constitution, and thereby lost our freedoms. I found it most illuminating when he pulled back the curtain on the Obama administration's playbook to undermine the constitution, Saul Alinsky's, Rules for Radicals. I was horrified to realize how apathetic I had become to the people who are making the policies that shape our lives. He has restored my vigor to fight for our liberty.

Not since Reagan, have I been so encouraged by the policies of someone running for office. I strongly encourage everyone who believes in our great country to take the time to read this book - whichever side of the aisle you sit. We are all Americans and all want the best for our children and grandchildren.

Awesome book! We need this man as our next president! Finally, a breath of fresh air and a person that can turn this country around.

The way things should be

Ben Carson is a Christian, therefore he has insights into what could work if only people incorporated Christian principles into their daily affairs. Values like honesty, integrity, love of neighbor and of self as a child of God, faith, trust and trustworthiness, etc. are part of his vocabulary. Valuing people as God intended is a big part of Dr Carsons writings. God bless Dr Carson and God bless America. Help us Lord please to get on the right path again.

Carson's View For Healing America

Would you try another book from Ben Carson, MD and Candy Carson and/or Prentice Onayemi?

I would. I intend to listen to other Carson books in the near future.

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

Carson is emerging as a leader in the Republican party and I admittedly didn't know very much about him when I started hearing his name on the news. After listening to this book I feel like I understand who he is and the life events that shaped his belief system.

Have you listened to any of Prentice Onayemi’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not, but I certainly would listen to another book narrated by Onayemi. He has a very soothing voice, not unlike Carson himself. It was very easy to forget that you weren't actually hearing Dr. Carson narrate his own book.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Definitely.

The book is formatted in a logical and chronological order as Carson tells his life story and his opinions on many important issues facing America today. Sometimes he shies away from taking a hard stance on issues by saying that people on opposing sides need to respect and understand other's viewpoints. While I don't disagree with that sentiment, sometimes a leader has to take a stance and Carson, in this book at least, seems hesitant to draw any immovable "lines in the sand." That being said, I do recommend this book to anyone seeking to learn more about the 2016 presidential candidate.
