Publisher's summary

Conservative talk radio's fastest-growing superstar is also a New York Times best-selling phenomenon: the author of the groundbreaking critique of the Supreme Court, Men in Black, and the deeply personal dog lover's memoir Rescuing Sprite, Mark R. Levin now delivers the book that characterizes both his devotion to his more than 5 million listeners and his love of our country and the legacy of our Founding Fathers.

Liberty and Tyranny is Mark R. Levin's clarion call to conservative America, a new manifesto for the conservative movement for the 21st century.

In the face of the modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values, an attack that has steadily snowballed since President Roosevelt's New Deal of the 1930s and resulted in a federal government that is a massive, unaccountable conglomerate, the time for re-enforcing the intellectual and practical case for conservatism is now. Conservative beliefs in individual freedoms do, in the end, stand for liberty for all Americans, while liberal dictates lead to the breakdown of civilized society - in short, tyranny.

Looking back to look to the future, Levin writes, "Conservatism is the antidote to tyranny precisely because its principles are our founding principles." And in a series of powerful essays, Levin lays out how conservatives can counter the liberal corrosion that has filtered into every timely issue affecting our daily lives, from the economy to health care, global warming, immigration, and more -- and illustrates how change, as seen through the conservative lens, is always prudent, and always an enhancement to individual freedom.

As provocative, well-reasoned, robust, and informed as his on-air commentary, Levin's narrative will galvanize listeners to begin a new era in conservative thinking and action.

Excellent info. Difficult to follow long quotes

the content of the book is golden. I would never find these excellent examples of the Progressive principles, if you can call them that. The problem is that many of them go on for minutes, and are bound or separated by the author's comments without reference to the beginning and end of those quotes. Some are easy to distinguish, others not at all.

Finally some common sense!

This is a great read as Mark Levin's logical and sensible approach to the constitution helps explain how far we've gone from the original framework of our government and he lays out a plan based on the founding father's principles for us to get back to where they envisioned this country to be.
Who better to learn from than a constitutional lawyer who has spent his life studying and evangelizing these principles.

A reminder of what made the United States great

Not only does Mr. Levin remind us of our founding principles, but he warns of what will (is?) happen if we get away from them. It is the book for the day! Excellent read.

A Book to make you think!

Mark Levin on his talk show, is confrontational and controversial. Informative and entertaining. The book shows a different side of Mark. He's obviously a thinker and is very well informed about the United States' Protestant, therefore Judeo Christian, roots. These roots grew a tree under the shade of which the world rested. Whose branches held the world's poor and down-trodden. We, I speak as a naturalized Citizen (ex-Scot), the U.S., are now, and have been for a long time, under attack by the Statists. They are the natural enemy of all who love freedom and order. Mark brings into focus what we know to be true and makes it so clear. It's like putting 3D glasses on and seeing a whole new dimension! Democrats, socialists, national socialists, communists,greens,tree-huggers,environementalists,secularists,atheists, are seeking to control every aspect of our lives. Incrementalism is the tactic. Read/listen the book!

Should be taught in School

What did you love best about Liberty and Tyranny?

Information not readily found in standard media

What did you like best about this story?

Constant unrelenting attack on our country's foundation, the constitution. Continual perversion of constitutional intent.

Any additional comments?

Lavine is a true patriot worried for his country like many of us are. His words memorialize what most conservatives understand is happening in this country but his collection of factual/historical information steels your resolve to try to make things right once more. A daunting task but one that must be undertaken. Nice job Mr. L

Amazing history, philosophy and analysis

Thank you again Mark. your books should be required high school curriculum. The communist progressives would have a down.

The amount of research, back up and foot notes in your books creates a perponerance of evidence.

Thank you, one patriot to another.
