Publisher's summary

In Liberty Defined, congressman and #1 New York Times bestselling author Ron Paul returns with his most provocative, comprehensive, and compelling arguments for personal freedom to date.

The term "Liberty" is so commonly used in our country that it has become a mere cliché. But do we know what it means? What it promises? How it factors into our daily lives? And most importantly, can we recognize tyranny when it is sold to us disguised as a form of liberty?

Dr. Paul writes that to believe in liberty is not to believe in any particular social and economic outcome. It is to trust in the spontaneous order that emerges when the state does not intervene in human volition and human cooperation. It permits people to work out their problems for themselves, build lives for themselves, take risks and accept responsibility for the results, and make their own decisions. It is the seed of America.

This is a comprehensive guide to Dr. Paul's position on fifty of the most important issues of our times, from Abortion to Zionism. Accessible, easy to digest, and fearless in its discussion of controversial topics, Liberty Defined sheds new light on a word that is losing its shape.

Ron Paul Defined

What made the experience of listening to Liberty Defined the most enjoyable?

The narrator was solid, not exceptional, but never was annoying and was very clear. I enjoyed this book due to the views expressed.

What did you like best about this story?

I enjoyed hearing the reasoning behind what the media would call "madness" out of Ron Paul. Getting to hear why he stands the way he stands in a long explanation gave clarification compared to the 1 minute debate answers.

Which character – as performed by Bob Craig – was your favorite?

N/A

If you could give Liberty Defined a new subtitle, what would it be?

How to think about life liberty and the pursuit of happines. Or the Argument of Libertarianism

Any additional comments?

Awesome book gives great clarity. Everyone needs to read to hear the libertarian side of the argument even if they don't end up agreeing with it. It is either our future or we have no future.

Is Ron Paul Crazy?

Or does the rest of the country just not get it? In this book Ron Paul takes a few very basic ideas (every capable individual owns themselves and their mind, and force should only be used to protect life and liberty) and, without compromise, applies them to some issues that are constantly being argued over (and some that are not). He starts many of the issues with what the constitution has to say about them, and talks about many ideas that clog and confuse the issues.

Good

Any additional comments?

I was expecting better (Ron Paul fan) but it is a really good read. I think life after the state is the best for this subject matter, for both info and entertainment. Still loved this one.

Thought Provoking

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend anyone who is interested in what was dreamed for America. Ron Paul does a great job separating each of the 50 topics out into sections: What the freedom is, how this effects you, how the government invades your freedom and his feelings on the topic. He separates his moral and religious beliefs out, and keeps it out until it is his section of personal feelings on the matter. This gives you plenty of time to develop your own opinions and thoughts on the topic before hearing his. Bob Craig, does a good job of never feeling invading, or pushing Ron Paul's feelings on the matter on to you, but instead, making it feel like a good friend sharing his feelings on matters. You can tell, as the footnotes show, that the research on the matter is vast, and pulls from many materials to not only bring you the topic, but on his personal feelings as well.

Any additional comments?

Bob Craig can drone on, and sometimes feels a bit edited in places, but this does not take away from his soothing voice, and the flow he puts to the words, when he is allowed to read freely. Its a great combo of reader to message.

Want to know what Ron Paul is about? This is it.

Would you listen to Liberty Defined again? Why?

Yes, at each point Ron Paul explains what he believes in and why. Who else in our congress, or in politics for that matter, is brave enough and consistent enough to put these points in writing?

What about Bob Craig’s performance did you like?

Well done. His voice was clear and strong.

RON PAUL... OH YAH

Would you consider the audio edition of Liberty Defined to be better than the print version?

I have never read the print version.

What other book might you compare Liberty Defined to and why?

Liberty and Tyranny by Mark Levin because they both have to do with conservatism and liberty. They take different stances on many issues though, so they aren't perfectly comparable.

What three words best describe Bob Craig’s performance?

Monotone, precise, and ...

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

I just love how everything he says makes so much sense. The government is way to involved; the downward spiral of the world walks hand and hand with Keynesian economics, entitlement, over-regulation, irresponsibility, restriction, effeminacy (for men), over-involvement in stuff that isn't the U.S.'s business, etc...
