Publisher's summary

Welcome to the world of Ann Coulter. With her monumental best-sellers Treason, Slander, and High Crimes and Misdemeanors, Coulter has become the most recognized and talked-about conservative intellectual in years - and certainly the most controversial.

Now, in How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must), which is sure to ignite impassioned debate, she offers her most comprehensive analysis of the American political scene to date. With incisive reasoning, refreshing candor, and razor-sharp wit, she reveals just why liberals have got it so wrong.

In this powerful and entertaining book, which draws on her weekly columns, Coulter ranges far and wide. No subject is off-limits, and no comment is left unsaid.

After all, she writes, “Nothing too extreme can be said about liberals because it’s all true.” How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must) offers Coulter’s unvarnished take on:

  • The essence of being a liberal: “The absolute conviction that there is one set of rules for you, and another, completely different set of rules for everyone else.”
  • John Kerry: “A reporter asked Kerry, ‘Are you for or against gay marriage?’ As usual, his answer was, ‘Yes.’ ”
  • Her 9/11 comments: “I am often asked if I still think we should invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity. The answer is: Now more than ever!”
  • The state of the Democratic Party: “Teddy Kennedy crawls out of Boston Harbor with a quart of Scotch in one pocket and a pair of pantyhose in the other, and Democrats hail him as their party’s spiritual leader.”
  • Her philosophy for arguing with liberals: “Tough love, except I don’t love them. My ‘tough love’ approach is much like the Democrats’ ‘middle-class tax cuts’ - everything but the last word.”
  • The “Treason Lobby”: “Want to make liberals angry? Defend the United States.”

In this full-on Coulterpalooza, you’ll find the real, uncensored Ann Coulter. A special concluding chapter even includes the pieces that squeamish editors refused to publish - “what you could have read if you lived in a free country,” says Coulter.

How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must) is a stunning reminder of why Ann Coulter’s commentary has achieved must-read status.

“A fluent polemicist with a gift for Menckenesque invective...and she can harness such language to subtle, syllogistic argument.” (Washington Post Book World)

“Ann Coulter is a trailblazer.” (Los Angeles Times Book Review)

“She can zing one-liners faster than Zeus can throw lightning bolts.” (Kansas City Star)

Liberals-A Near Contact Sport

This is the third book I have read of Coulter's and still have yet to be disappointed. Obviously, if you?re liberal you fail to see the humor that Ann packs when she slams liberals where it hurts, there brain. With the war on terror this book is a great read. You get to review all the stupidity that drips from a people that have no core values. A people that cannot define the word terrorist, because in their mind, "one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter." If this is the world of convoluted minutia that you reside in than you need to read this book. If you think like I do, that a terrorist is anyone who takes the life of an innocent then this book helps you see through the wacko world of the liberal left that has made up down and down up. A world littered with misplaced mercy whose ideas need to be defeated for the treachery of the human spirit they are.

Great Book!

This book is a collection of Ann Coulter articles and reports. I appreciate her meticulous research and support of her statements. No holds barred. Thouroughly entertaining and informative. Liberals will probably hate this book but would do well to give it a listen. Highly recommended!

Entertaining history of the times

While this may not be the tape to listen to on an airplane (you will laugh out loud and/or find yourself muttering your own comments in response) or if you must soon spend time actually talking to liberals or wimpy conservatives (remember reading "Treason"? It's not cool to call real live aquaintainces "Girly Men" to their faces.), Ms. Coulter's book is an entertaining review of recent history and the political background and attitudes surrounding the events. I love documentation and supporting examples and this book is rich with both. (The definition of "is" is the common one in use, and the definition of "footnotes" vs. "end notes" is avoided by references within the body of the commentary. Can you imagine an audio book "footnote"? I can't.)

The book is a collection columns and relevant commentary about the columns from the last 10 years. As Ms. Coulter says, she's not ashamed of her columns, and doesn't feel any need to hide any of them, unlike some of the Left's former praises of Communist murderers.

Since Ms. Coulter is published by very few newspapers and journals, most of the content will be brand new even to fans like me who read Ann's columns on the Internet. There is no repetition or duplication from her other best-sellers books.

I am a LIBERAL this is the TRUTH about our party

This is the latest and greatest from Ann. I love this book so much I think I am going to ask her out on a date! Ann puts it all out, honestly, and more importantly factually. As a former liberal, I learned(not from ann) to actually research the facts and that emotional thinking fueled by ignorance is the basic philosophy of liberalism. Today the party has become so corrupt that I was pushed hard to the right. Especially after the movie 911 by micheal moore where he betrayed families by exploiting thier sons and daughters death to make a political point(see Fareinhype 911). That was the last straw, get that real movie Farenhype 911, and see how almost every fact in moores movie actually was made to trick the audience to believe his points. How dare he take a guy who is missing his arms and USE him as an anti war pawn when the kid totally sacrificed basically the life he knew to help the people of Iraq and protect us. I believe liberals are the cause of most of america's problems due to the fact that they act emotionally without having all the information to make the best decision. As a recent graduate school gratuate, I was force fed all this liberal philosophy of how things cant be changed so we should "cope" rather than stand firm in our morals and do whats right for our fellow man. This book is blunt and calls liberals for what they are hence why I think that they are bashing this book while they probably didnt even read past the first half of it! There is the classic example (emotional thinking fueled by ignorance!) Anyways, try Sean Hannity's books too, they are alittle easier to read on the liberal because he puts together one big moral obligation to help fellow man arguement rather than expose the liberal lies, deciet and greed.

How does she look at herself in the mirror

Unchecked facts and a lot of bile! No wonder we are so divided in this country. What a waste of money.

Scarily distorted and misleading

This has to be one of the most offensive works of Ms. Coulter's unfortunately successful career. Her accusations are, when bibliographically analysed, based on the most questionable of sources. She assaults the reader with facts from dozens of fascist publications already proven to be incorrect or outrageously exaggerated. If you read this (if you must), check her facts. You'll find yet another right-wing attempt to manipulate the truth.
