Publisher's summary

If a Martian landed in America and set out to determine the nation's official state religion, he would have to conclude it is liberalism, while Christianity and Judaism are prohibited by law. Many Americans are outraged by liberal hostility to traditional religion. But as Ann Coulter reveals in this, her most explosive audiobook yet, to focus solely on the left's attacks on our Judeo-Christian tradition is to miss a larger point: Liberalism is a religion - a godless one. And it is now entrenched as the state religion of this county.

Though liberalism rejects the idea of God and reviles people of faith, it bears all the attributes of a religion. In Godless, Coulter throws open the doors of the church of liberalism, showing us its sacraments (abortion), its holy writ (Roe v. Wade), its martyrs (from Soviet spy Alger Hiss to cop-killer Mumia Abu-Jamal), its clergy (public school teachers), its churches (government schools, where prayer is prohibited but condoms are free), its doctrine of infallibility (as manifest in the "absolute moral authority" of spokesmen from Cindy Sheehan to Max Cleland), and its cosmology (in which mankind is an inconsequential accident).

Then, of course, there's the liberal creation myth: Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. For liberals, evolution is the touchstone that separates the enlightened from the benighted. But Coulter neatly reverses the pretense that liberals are rationalists guided by the ideals of free inquiry and the scientific method. She exposes the essential truth about Darwinian evolution that liberals refuse to confront: It is bogus science.

Writing with a keen appreciation for genuine science, Coulter reveals that the so-called gaps in the theory of evolution are all there is - Darwinism is nothing but a gap. After 150 years of dedicated searching into the fossil record, evolution's proponents have failed utterly to substantiate its claims. And a long line of supposed evidence, from the infamous Piltdown Man to the "evolving" peppered moths of England, has been exposed as hoaxes. Still, liberals treat those who question evolution as religious heretics and prohibit students from hearing about real science when it contradicts Darwinism. And these are the people who say they want to keep faith out of the classroom?

Liberals' absolute devotion to Darwinism, Coulter shows, has nothing to do with evolution's scientific validity and everything to do with its refusal to admit the possibility of God as a guiding force. They will brook no challenges to the official religion.

Fearlessly confronting the high priests of the church of liberalism and ringing with Coulter's razor-sharp wit, Godless is the most important and riveting book yet from one of today's most lively and impassioned conservative voices.

Satire at its best

I thoroughly enjoy Ann's books and columns. She has a way of pointing out the idiocy of the liberal religion that is both thought provoking and scary at the same time. She backs up her comments with data that for some reason is left out of the public dialog by the liberal media who push their own agendas. The only issue I have with Ann is how someone so intelligent can be so blinded by faith in the bible and god as to not question the inaccuracies and contradictions in it. She calls environmentalism a religion which I completely agree with but does not connect them as both being bad for society. Nothing in the bible is a proven fact as with man made global warming but yet it is defend just as much by anyone who has drank the koolaid. Maybe if we new for a fact that the authors of the bible were liberal she would take a deeper look at its flaws.

A Wonderful Book, With One Reservation

The one thing I do want to comment on specifically is the quality of the recording. The reader does a great job, but I think the recordings would have been much better if they had put chapter breaks in the recordings which corresponded to the actual chapter breaks in the book. There are times when I want to skip around to different chapters, and it's rather difficult to do so because the breaks in the recording have nothing to do with the breaks in the book. This is an unnecessary annoyance, and I hope that this gets corrected for future books.

Ann's Best.

While I wish Ann had read the entire book herself, it's still great. It's my go to book for someone who hasn't read any of Ann's books before. Hilarious, punchy and worth every minute.

Stupid Liberals

I can really appreciate this book. I highly recommend it to anyone who has to deal with people who still have John Kerry bumper stickers on their cars.

Nice to hear the other side

Often the media presents only the liberal view. It is good to hear another viewpoint. I only wish that she would speak less insultingly of those she disagrees with.

Profs in then the last chapter floored me!

Narrator was great, story left me with well what can I do, all the phone calls, faxes and surveys seem totally irrelevant to creating much Change at all. I did take away a new for me idea equating Darwinism and the liberal religion, thank you Anna for being so out front with exposing the idiocy that is being sold as a norm. Will definitely read your others!

Sometimes the truth hurts

She nails it. A great listen with very thought-provoking assertions
Ann Coulter has a knack for speaking the truth... even when its hard to swallow. Many people want to compare her to Michael Moore or Al Franken; here's the difference she backs up her allegations with cold hard facts...

Over the top truth

This book won't win over anyone from the left. It's basically a guilty pleasure for those of us on the right. All of the attacks on this book have been about her tone(from many who embraced Al Franken's personal attacks) but none have addressed the facts she presents.

Hard to put down

What a great book. I found this book intriguing and full of information not commonly known. I consider myself up on religious and political topics but I had no idea what I really didn't know. Well worth the credits.
