"If you believe it's time to put principles above parties, character above campaign promises, and Common Sense above all - then I ask you to read this book...."
In any era, great Americans inspire us to reach our full potential. They know with conviction what they believe within themselves. They understand that all actions have consequences. And they find commonsense solutions to the nation's problems.
One such American, Thomas Paine, was an ordinary man who changed the course of history by penning Common Sense, the concise 1776 masterpiece in which, through extraordinarily straightforward and indisputable arguments, he encouraged his fellow citizens to take control of America's future -- and, ultimately, her freedom.
Nearly two and a half centuries later, those very freedoms once again hang in the balance. And now, Glenn Beck revisits Paine's powerful treatise with one purpose: to galvanize Americans to see past government's easy solutions, two-part monopoly, and illogical methods, and take back our great country.

Most of the time, I agree with Glen Beck's philosophy. His arguments here are so compelling that it angers you, even if (and maybe especially if) you agree with him. I don't know if anyone could narrate this other than the author, and still have the passion that he obviously has and imparts. I was also surprised that a little more than halfway through his book ended. Then began a reading of the original by Thomas Paine. Though the language is hard to get used to at first, his arguments are just as compelling and give a great view of the historical setting at the time.
I wasn't sure what I'd get when I purchased this and was a little worried it would be another droning and dull audiobook however, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Not only does Glen narrate this himself, he does it in such a way that inspires, invokes and encourages the listener to action. I travel a lot and its impractical to carry a book with me all the time so this audiobook is on my iPhone and I listen to it frequently. Glen is authoritative, informed and courageously direct - his research and facts are indisputable. This is a CALL TO ARMS for every American who cares about this country and what this country was originally established to be. He invokes the listener to stop sitting idly by but take our constitutional right as American's to support the fundamental and intrinsic value of the Constitution of the United States as it was intended. If ever this country needed a voice of sanity, logic and reason (Common Sense), its now and Glen is clearly HEAD AND SHOULDERS over any other. THANK YOU GLEN FOR DOING THIS!
I like the content of the book, and anyone that really cares about America should read it, or listen to it. Personally I wish someone else was reading it because even though Glenn means well, there's some parts of this audio where I just can't stand to listen any longer because he gets too excited and it distracts from the content of the book. I can only take so much at once so I'll have to listen to this book a little at a time until I get through it.
This book is Excellent! It will open your eyes to what's happening to this great nation right under our noses. The tragedy of it all brought tears to my eyes... Apathy is no longer an option. Wake up America!! Your freedom is at stake!
Mr. Beck lays out the urgency of this message powerfully and in a very understandable way. This is a must read for EVERYBODY liberal and conservative alike... The ramifications of the current course of events reach far beyond party lines... They could change everything, and life as we know it. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK!
This has to be the best read of my year. I am an avid reader, a Patriot, a Bostonian, a lover of US History, and a retired Teacher. This should be mailed to every household in America. Glenn Beck is not afraid to face the dragons of our current situation. Let the truth be told, and better yet, let it be heeded.
Great read. Straight forward. Should be mandatory for every person in the federal government.
If it was mandatory for high school students this country would be turned on its head.
