The 1964 murder of a nationally known cancer researcher sets the stage for this gripping exposé of medical professionals enmeshed in covert government operations over the course of three decades. Following a trail of police records, FBI files, cancer statistics, and medical journals, this revealing book presents evidence of a web of medical secret-keeping that began with the handling of evidence in the JFK assassination and continued apace, sweeping doctors into coverups of cancer outbreaks, contaminated polio vaccine, the arrival of the AIDS virus, and biological weapon research using infected monkeys.

"No JFK book can come close to it...." (Citizens for Truth About the Kennedy Assassination)
It's like riding a runaway freight train. You ask yourself over and over WHO'S DRIVING THIS THING AND WHERE ARE WE HEADED? The only problem is you need at the very least an active interest in the JFK assassination. You really need to know who the characters are and it's crucial that you care. It's such a bizarre take on what may have happened in Dallas that a wide open mind is essential. But the story is amazing and the read is excellent.
Highly recommended, anyone who likes conspiracy and down right frightening conclusions will love this book.
Slow starting , maybe a little bit too much personal background however the information, which is laid out for the listener is understandable and well done. Not really a book about JFK however there are people, the usual suspects that intersect in a plot to kill Castro and the Kennedy assassination.
Frankly, the information about the government using cancer as a bio weapon that gets out of control, is past scary. It would explain a lot such as the cancer pandemic we are now having.
1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women will get cancer now - those are scary numbers. It's a book worth listening to at least once.
The authors frankness
The misplaced genius of Mary Sherman
It is very plausible that LHO was a double agent working for RFK.
as the author said, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. The absolute misguided tragedy of the Polio vaccine and the very real consequences of doctors "playing God"It does seem possible that the CIA did finally get their weaponized cancer, as we see from the death of Jack Ruby who stated so and the upcoming death of Hugo Chavez and who knows how many more.We all are aware an know the disaster communism was, but the hysteria of the 50's and 60's seems extreme, especially when you consider that Russia was our ally during WW2 against Germany and JapanThe more I find out about the late 40's and 50's, the more it seems that our leaders had dropped into a fit of madness, we are still paying for it 60 years laterThe SV 40 virus and the possible origins of the Aids virus...all created by mad scientists, I wonder how many other insane projects we don't know about. The end of living and the beginning of survival, upside down world, life out of balance, crazy lifeYou know, sometimes its just better to be humble, say we don't know and allow nature to work things out
I am on the young side of being older, but nonetheless - wiser.
This is not a conspiracy theory book - it can't be because it is backed up by so many facts. A few suppositions are made, but when you see the steps taken to those conclusions - you have to open your eyes to possibilities you never thought could be! Agree or disagree, this book is very revealing and explains a lot of the secrets (mostly medical ones) our government has been keeping... and why. And after you are so amazed and taken back by one conspiracy... titillating facts about another one arises. I loved this book and I hated it. I wanted to scream in frustration and anger, not at the author - at this country! I heard it twice and I bought the hard copy for underlining and marking relevant passages. Be prepared to have a major paradigm shift. Everyone should read this book!
(POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD). The author digs up legitimate (and admittedly scary) direct ties between secret government funded cancer research, the Anti-Castro movement of the 50's, the bizarre murder of a respected cancer researcher at Tulane University and the John F.Kennedy Assassination, Many of the compellingly seedy characters from the Kennedy investigation (Ferrie, Clay Shaw, Oswald, etc) play a part in these strange going-on, as do some of the most effective, respected medical professionals in their fields. Add in the secret construction of a $10 Million Dollar Linear Particle Accelerator that appears to have been the weapon used to murder cancer researcher Dr.Mary Sherman and you've got something truly unique: a soberly -researched, carefully considered and convincingly written true story that takes you on a wild ride that keeps surprising, educating and thrilling you with every new chapter. This is investigative reporting, not conspiracy theories or arguments bent to prove a preconceived premise. This is, in other words, a singularly fascinating and scholarly work of investigative journalism that will change how you think about a LOT of things. Oh, and there's monkeys too. Can't forget about the monkeys . . .
The tainted polo vaccines. Horrible!!!!
The cancer link and the polo vaccines
The weirdness of David Ferrie
I think everyone show read!!!
This really was interesting. I am not all that into conspiracy stories, but the title and the fact that it resolved around an unsolved homicide caught my attention, then would not let me go!
This book shows how big money and all who weald power manipulate our culture and freedoms to suit their evil desires.
Makes me shudder to know how far down the rabbit hole we have fallen in the 50 years since this travesty.
truly epic rollercoaster of political and scientific facts. and with excessive name drops and time and place all accountable, this book is a must read
You need to focus to follow some of the threads, but Haslam himself writes clearly while showing his own 'workings out' of what ends up being an account of him trying to solve a personal puzzle which leads all the way back to historical events of huge import. I came away feeling I need to question my scepticism when it comes to conspiracy theories. Excellent performance too.
