Publisher's summary

At eight years old, Tuesday Storm's childhood is forever lost when the death of her older sister Audrey sends her family spiraling out of control into the darkest of dysfunction. In the wake of the tragedy, Tuesday's mother, distraught and looking for a scapegoat, singles Tuesday out from her siblings to take on the blame for Audrey's death, and then targets her for unspeakable abuse. Almost overnight, the loving environment Tuesday has come to know, becomes an endless nightmare of twisted "games" and sadistic punishments as she's forced to confront the cruelty lurking behind the beautiful face of the mother she idolizes.

Based on a true story, Call Me Tuesday recounts with raw emotion a young girl's physical and mental torment at the mercy of the monster in her mother's clothes - a monster she doesn't know how to stop loving. Tuesday's painful journey through the hidden horrors of child abuse will open your eyes to what could be going on behind your neighbor's door, while her unshakeable love for her parents will tug at your heartstrings.

loved it so glad she shared her story. so cruel of her mother and she will rot in hell for what she did to this young lady. I foster kids currently and it put me in a different prospective to where they may come from. thank you for sharing your story.

A disturbing tale

A disturbing reminder of my life as a little girl. This book brought up so many confused emotions that I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am so grateful to the author for telling her story and sad that she endured the abuse.

Gripping memoir from start to finish

The middle of the book was frustrating because it seemed like the abuse and maltreatment went on forever and no one was doing anything about it. I had to keep putting myself in the narrator's shoes to understand why the solution to her situation may not have been so cut and dry.

The narrator was wonderful, and her delivery of such a harrowing story was believable. She portrayed a range of ages with skill and grace...the child wasn't too "cutesy" but was still cute; the older version of Tuesday was pleasing to hear as well.

I want to learn more about this particular case. Not necessarily in an exploitative way, but because I have a genuine interest in people's life stories. Even if one hasn't experienced the levels of abuse the narrator describes, they can still relate to elements of Tuesday's story and perhaps view the kids that seem a little "off" with compassion, for we do not know their stories.

Happy ending is always a plus :)

Where's the confrontation?

Narration was great. The book was brutally honest and exposed the raw nature of child abuse and secrecy. It triggered a number of emotional responses, to put it mildly. I can appreciate the author's individual methods of coping, but her lack of confrontation left me feeling extremely frustrated.

Harsh realities

Any additional comments?

Call Me Tuesday is based on the author's life. Ms. Ryan did an excellent job narrating this story making it possible to feel Tuesday's pain. Even though the circumstances of Tuesday's life are so horrid at times, she is strong, she is a survivor. Having already listened to this book twice, it is one that I will listen to many times over as each time my admiration for Tuesday grows, realizing just how much she has had to overcome.

last word word hit me like a Thunderbold...

beautifully written, and narrated... brought everything into perspective, opened a clear window in to my foggy memories, reading this story was like a blueprint, and a guidance for all children who have suffered from their lovedones... chapeau

Amazing

Great book. It was painful to hear. As a mother it was hard to listen to this little girl hurt and not be able to help.
