Publisher's summary

In the current digital age, it is becoming increasingly more difficult to stay focused. Smartphones, tablets, smart watches, and other devices constantly vie for our attention. In both business and life, we are constantly bombarded with tweets, likes, mentions, and a constant stream of information. The inability to pay attention impacts learning, parenting, prioritizing, and leading. Not surprisingly, attention spans have gotten shorter. Already being pulled in a dozen directions every minute, managers and business leaders often struggle to address important issues and focus on everything that needs attention.

Noise: Living and Leading When Nobody Can Focus teaches managers and leaders how to help themselves and others sharpen their focusing skills. In this follow-up to his first book, Brief - the proven, step-by-step approach to clear, concise, and effective communication - author Joseph McCormack helps listeners cut through the static and devote their attention to what is important.

Noise: Living and Leading When Nobody Can Focus is a valuable resource for leaders and managers seeking to develop laser-sharp focus and apply it to everything you do.

Thoughts on Shutting Out the Noise

I find this book to a be a good follow up to the “Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*uck” (SANGF). Where SANGF helps the reader think through prioritization and where to focus energies, Quiet helps the reader think through how to shut out distractions, and focus thought and energies to priorities.

Another great tool for leaders

I enjoyed and agreed with many of the points in this book. I didn’t like the excessive repetition of points, but I suppose it does help drill the importance of the concepts for others. I do recommend it and the tools on their site.

Noise

This is a quite little book about how to make your mind less cluttered and how to put you in control of your surroundings.

repetitive but some good points.

The author beings across some good points, in a clear and precise manner. While many of these ideas and concepts are definitely valuable tools and habits to adopt, many times it feels too judgmental and opinionated. Also very sales oriented, pitching way too often all the other books and services him and his company provide.
overall a good read.that will help you think, reconsider and adopt some new habits.
