Publisher's summary

The number-one New York Times best seller by Time's 2019 Person of the Year

"Greta Thunberg is already one of our planet’s greatest advocates." (Barack Obama)

The groundbreaking speeches of Greta Thunberg, the young climate activist who has become the voice of a generation, including her historic address to the United Nations

In August 2018, a 15-year-old Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, decided not to go to school one day in order to protest the climate crisis. Her actions sparked a global movement, inspiring millions of students to go on strike for our planet, forcing governments to listen, and earning her a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.

No One Is Too Small to Make A Difference brings you Greta in her own words, for the first time. Collecting her speeches that have made history across the globe, from the United Nations to Capitol Hill and mass street protests, her book is a rallying cry for why we must all wake up and fight to protect the living planet, no matter how powerless we feel. Our future depends upon it.

Critic reviews

“[Greta Thunberg’s] just 16, but her voice has woken up the world.... An inspiring call to action.” (People)

“Thunberg has always been refreshingly - and necessarily - blunt in her demands for action from world leaders who refuse to address climate change. With clarity and unbridled passion, she presents her message that climate change is an emergency that must be addressed immediately, and she fills her speeches with punchy sound bites delivered in her characteristic pull-no-punches style.... A tiny book...with huge potential impact.” (Kirkus, starred review)

“When I turned in my book last September, I was skeptical that dramatic political progress on climate change was even possible, since so little had been accomplished over the past few decades. We’re still moving far, far too slowly to avoid climate catastrophe, but Greta Thunberg’s book of speeches - and even more so, her incredibly inspiring turn as global warming’s Joan of Arc, leading millions of protestors into the streets all across the world - made me realize that my own political cynicism is just another form of naivete. And that climate change is much too important to ever give up on.” (David Wallace-Wells, author of The Uninhabitable Earth)

Persistent Tenacious Activism

This book is an interesting exploration of how Greta's speeches evolved over the months she dedicated her life to saving the habitable world for all of our future progeny. The redundancy points out which issues were most important to her and the subtle and startling differences highlighted how her thinking was impacted by her interactions with the powerful people she tried so hard to influence. One can her her growing frustration and anger as her clear and cogent message is ignored, manipulated and vilified.
Not for everyone but definitely excellent for climate activists.

Deeply inspiring

Greta is really inspiring and should be recognized as one of the most influential advocates of our generation. I hope she will be remembered along the names of people like MLK, as undoubtedly, climate change is the biggest injustice facing our world today.
Seems unfathomable to see so many people make fun of her and not take her seriously, when she is in my opinion part of a handful of people on this earth with the integrity, courage and intelligence necessary to bring about real, and much needed, impactful change.
Thank you Greta and thank you to the people who take this threat as seriously as it should!

Good for what it is

This was good for what it is - a collection of her speeches. Overall it was incredibly repetitive but each was compelling. An easy listen but I wish her enthusiasm would’ve translated better over her audio narration.

No one is too small to Inspire!

I wish more of our US politicians would work together to address the climate crisis. It is real, despite the naysayers desire to mislead. But I'm afraid most of our leaders are too arrogant and proud they've lost sight of what their job is all about, to serve our country and we the people. Also, most business executives and managers, caring only for profits and shareholder wealth, make detrimental decisions, or do nothing about the problem, all of which bring harm to our planet and the human race. Let's exploit all we can, right? Wrong!

Thank you Greta Thunberg for making a difference and being a voice of reasons for our troubled world. We truly need to stand together to become better stewards for the earth. We need to take care of it for our children and grandchildren and future generations.
