Publisher's summary

An interesting reflection on the role of religion

You get exposed to different points of view regarding the role of religion in the life of the individual, society and state.

The dangers of fanaticism, of any type, are clear. But still it left me wondering about many questions and dilemmas.

One concept still resonates: if you take religion out of poor people, what are they left with?

Great book, very boring

Pamuk is a great writer. A nobel prize. The book is full of politics and profound reflexions on religion. But is also full of super-detailed descriptions of each character feelings. And Pamuk character have a different feeling every other sentence which Pamuk describes with such precision that I found unbearable. I had to stop listenig a few hours before the end. Simply dead boring.
Sorry Oran, you are great, but this is not for me.
