The one-hour program features Terry Gross' in-depth interviews with prominent cultural and entertainment figures, as well as distinguished experts on current affairs and news.
Though Fresh Air has been categorized as a "talk show", it hardly fits the mold. Its 1994 Peabody Award citation credits Fresh Air with "probing questions, revelatory interviews, and unusual insights." And a variety of top publications count Gross among the country's leading interviewers. The show gives interviews as much time as needed, and complements them with comments from well-known critics and commentators.
This collection of interviews brings together just a fraction of all the interviews from Fresh Air's history. It includes Terry Gross' conversations with James Woods, Diane Keaton, Al Pacino, David Chase, Bill Murray, Peter Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, John Cusack, Anjelica Huston, Clarence Williams III, Gene Hackman, Samuel L. Jackson, Sidney Poitier, Uta Hagen, David Mamet, Werner Herzog, and Catherine Deneuve.

Lover of ideas who feels no guilt at all about her pleasures.
Fresh Air is usually so good that I'm surprised they agreed to the publication of this collection. The interviews included have all been edited down to about 10 minutes and the result is a very fragmented and unsatisfying audio exprience. Buy the original shows if you're interested - it will be a better value.
