Publisher's summary

Peter Evans's biography of Aristotle Onassis, Ari, met with great acclaim when it was published in 1986. Not long after the book appeared, however, Onassis's daughter Christina and his longtime business partner Yannis Georgakis hinted to Evans that he had missed the "real story." "I must begin", Georgakis said, "with the premise that, for Onassis, Bobby Kennedy was unfinished business from way back . . . ."

His words launched Evans into the heart of a story that tightly bound Onassis not to Jackie's first husband, but to his ambitious younger brother Bobby. A bitter rivalry emerged between Bobby and Ari long before Onassis and Jackie had even met. Nemesis reveals the tangled thread of events that linked two of the world's most powerful men and uncovers the surprising role played by the woman they both loved.

Through extensive interviews with the closest friends, lovers, and relatives of Onassis and the Kennedys, longtime journalist Evans has uncovered the shocking culmination of the Kennedy-Onassis-Kennedy love triangle: Aristotle Onassis was at the heart of the plot to kill Bobby Kennedy. Meticulously tracing Onassis's connections in the world of terrorism, Nemesis presents compelling evidence that he financed the assassination - including a startling confession that has gone unreported for nearly three decades.

This is an excellent story!

I enjoyed listening to the reading of the story. It is rather mind blowing. The author had a relationship with Aristotle Onassis, his family, and associates from the middle of the 60s to the end of the 90’s. After Onassis had died, his attorney and others, who knew Onassis intimately, began to talk about the real story. I found the book very believable. I would have to say it’s probably one of the very best I’ve heard so far. I have listen to it more than once.

Better the Second Time around

I read it in hardback years ago, it was great listening to Nemesis. I loved re-visiting all the inter-connections and story lines of so many powerful families. Following the vendettas and rivalries between the Kennedy’s and Greek Shipping magnates was even better this time around. It helped me find my our theories for the Kennedy assasinations!

Mind blown!

Wow! My reaction to this seeming treasure trove of secrets and scandals was, "Why have I never heard about this?!" Some of these salacious details would just be too wild to believe, except that the author sources them all. In most instances they are DIRECT quotes from the people involved, not hearsay. I speculate that even 50 years on the Kennedy clan may still be trying desperately to squelch any tarnishing of their name, despite the plethora of well documented allegations against 3 generations...from bootlegging to murder to sexual assault...so perhaps their influence is behind why such a shocking story, a well sourced, shocking story has seen little media "daylight" Bottom line read or listen. It may be the only chance you get to hear the true story

Gossipy But The Threads Of Truth Are Interesting.

The Threads Of Truth Are Interesting. None can be verified. Some may be true, others may not be true. Still a very interesting account of possibilities. The threads of truth still have meaning. But it's all very tabloid. If you are curious about Onannis it's a good read.

Great Story . . . Performance not so great

This story revealed so many things about the Kennedys and the Onasis family that were unfamiliar to me. It is a great uncovering of events that affected the world.
I was disappointed, however, with Michael Murray's performance. It seemed to follow a pattern that did not waiver throughout the book, regardless of what was being described or stated. Many quotations were followed by "he said". The often-used phrase, "he said" sounded like a question in his intonation.
